Dead CDC2
« on: 04 October 2008, 14:57:26 »

I have a completely dead cdc2, was wondering if there was a fuse inside the unit but have discovered there is not. I have another 2 cdc2's in the garage, when i plug these in they both power up which proves there is power to the rear of the car, however these are not compatible with the CCRT700 which is fitted so it still displays no cdc on the head unit. Anything else i can try or is it time fo the bin?

Hi Timbuk, I beleive there are 2 different models of CDC2, one which works with the CCRT700, and one that works with all other head units, ie: CCR600/800, and it appears that they are not compatible.
They are differentiated by the last two letters on the model designation, but can't remember what they are  :-[
(might be worth checking all three units you have for different lettering?)

Dave DND will probably be along shortly to explain.

(I only know because I bought a CCR600, and needed a CDC2 to match, and someone told me) ::)

Yup, thanks for that, have stated they are not compatible, just proving there is power to the rear of the car. I actually have 3 here all with different part numbers. CCR600 ones power up, CCRT700 is the one that is dead

To the best of my knowledge, there are at least 11 variants of CDC2 and to add to the confusion, they are not all cross compatable with each other as they all use different protocol languages to communicate with different heads units.

The only real way to identify them apart is by ignoring the Vx part number and instead by looking at the BLAUPUNKT part number on the side that is 10 digits long, starting with a 7 and looks similar to this

7 123 456 789

I`m afraid that I do not have a compatability list, and can only offer the advice that if you are looking for a replacement to your faulty changer, then you must look at the Blaupunkt part number and replace like for like, or it will not work, and can actually damage the head unit in some cases.
