Never again
« on: 22 December 2017, 14:18:58 »

Will I ever use one of these car wash places where about 6 blokes have a production line going

Had the Mondeo done today. Airbag light on straight after. Nothing appears disconnected under seats, can only assume they’ve sprayed their shit into the airbag itself

Local garage read the code. Something like Stage 1 driver frontal deployment control

Reset it, straight back.

Any ideas  :(

Conveniently they all forgot how to speak English when I asked about it.

Quick enough to ram Their big hoover under the seats into the wiring etc. Thought I would strike gold there and find a connector adrift  but, no luck

Not good, James.

I don't even let Jaguar clean my car when it goes in for a service.

The last thing I need is a 17 year old neanderthal knuckledragger with a gritty sponge and a bucket.

I hope you get it sorted.

It does sound like they've knocked something with the Hoover nozzle. Is it possible that a connector looks like it is intact but has been knocked enough to cause a bad connection. I may be wrong but I wouldn't have thought spraying polish could have caused it.

Ideally need to find somewhere to look up the actual text, but wondering if they have somehow damaged the sensors, rather than the actual actuators.

Do they have a company head office or some English-speaking superior who you can complain to? Or would a posse of OOFERs help?

Ron.

The problem is proving it wasn’t present before they touched it.

Although, it passed the MOT yesterday, and the tester would confirm the light wasn’t on then.

I could probably establish to a small claims court satisfaction that, on the balance of probabilities, they did it.

But it’s a bloody lot of aggro for something so stupid

I’ve looked up online how to read the codes for the SRS myself. I just need to do a small solder mod to my ELM327 which I will do tomorrow.

Hopefully then we can get the exact code and fault find. Whatever it is, is drivers side.

No airbags in the doors but some in the pillars.

Under the seats all is plugged in

Strange as that sounds like  a code that thinks airbag deployment has taken place ???

I got a call off a mate yesterday, he'd taken his Renault Trafic in for a clean and the soft buggers jet washed the interior, in this van the battery is under a panel in the passenger footwell. Van wouldn't start and things got a tad heated when he discussed it with them. AA have towed it home and I'll look at it tomorrow

The side impact sensors for the Mondeo are under the carpet immediately in front of the front seats & bolted to an upright surface in the floorpan pressing. It’s possible that if any mats had been removed that over zealous prodding around in the vicinity could cause problems as described - although I’ve not seen/heard of it myself. Have you tried the Talk Ford forum? They seem to be a bit random about stuff but might have info?

Good luck.

Had a word with a Ford techy today and told him hat you'd posted[I'd written it down so as not to get it garbled]he said could do with DTC's[presumably codes? as I didn't enquire too deeply]but his first guess-and I must stress this was a guess-was pre-tensioner either plug or wiring.Don't know whether that's of help to you.

Ha ha how about the Area Slave Master? If you are lucky you might find the Regional Slave Master, but any higher than that your probably risking a bullet...  :-X

The day I'm to lazy or unhealthy to wash my own car is the day I will investigate the things they call buses. :)

I went to the Eastern European car wash this aft, it was so busy they were queuing down the road. My car is absolutely gleaming......for a fiver. I’m not lazy, I’m just not stupid enough to be out on a cold Saturday afternoon with a bucket and sponge, hoping to get it half as clean as they do.
