Omega General Help / Sump plug troubles

Got all the bits for an oil change thought i was set went to remove the plug and it just spins no signs of it coming out.

It can only be my fault as I did the last oil change so i must have over torqued or cross threaded it.

Has anyone had the same problem and is it a sump off job?

Ive tried mole grips, tried to put a screwdriver under the edge of plug for leverage an neither worked.

Any help suggestions ideas on this one would be much appreciated.

Car MOT was finally completed today had to have a retest due to high CO levels and that was it had it retested today and it passed but when I started up to leave the test centre I noticed a plume of Blue not good me thinks.

Spent till 10pm last night cleaning all the breather hoses including de-crapping the rear crank breather pipe so I think this helped to clear the CO test.

My question is what to do next would an Oil/Filter change and rear oil seperator change to help reduce the problem or am I wasting my time and just need to change the piston rings or valve stem seals.

The blue smoke looks to only happen on start up and not visible when running if that makes sense.

All Ideas would be much appreciated

Omega General Help / rear lip spoiler brake light

I have a rear lip spoiler and it has the red brake light in it currently but I have seen a few cars with the clear ones fitted I contacted lmf vx and they can supply a red one for £35 posted.

I know the part number for the red brake light but can anyone give me the Irmscher part number for the clear strip.

I have just been looking at lj707 car in the gallery and it looks well smart.

Also not sure there is any truth but my local vx said i'd need to change my whole spoiler to have the clear lense brake light.

Any Help on this would be much appreciated

Omega General Help / lumpy idle on start up

As in the title really running out of options, intermittent starts from cold its really lumpy.

So far I have cleaned the throttle body and Idle Control Valve checked the breathers, I have also checked the plug wells and they are all dry so the lead ends are fine.

I have done the paperclip test and there is one code 0100 which is the MAF sensor but this code I think is from when I left the connector off by mistake after the Throttlebody and ICV clean.

I have read in places it could be the egr valve having a hissy fit can these be blanked or is it a replacement job.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated :y

Had the abs light come on played about with the relays and the light would go out after ignition switch on.

Spin either of the front wheels and the abs light flashes back on.

I had a look at the sensors and discovered the passenger side front speed sensor has broken the casing had shattered so I thought I'd remove it totally for the time being and replace.

I contacted VX to find out how much a new sensor was and was told they are part of the hub which to me is rubbish as its held in place by one star type bolt and to me they should just push in like the rear ones into the rear dif.

Can anyone tell me if the sensor can be bought without the hub and if so can anyone give the part numbers as I just dont know what to do now.

VX quoted me £125 for a new hub which is with 5% discount.

Omega General Help / Possible blockage

I recently thought the thermostat was knackered and car seems to have calmed down since but just lately from a cold start if I start the car with the ac on the car tends to rock blip of the accelerator a few times and the car settles fine.

Could this be a blockage in the exhaust system somewhere, plenty of back pressure and the car seems to be running ok at the moment.

I have checked the exhaust for air leaks and to me its all sound.

Any ideas would be much appreciated  :-/

Does this sound like its knackered, the car engine temp keeps creeping whilst driving along but not overheating fortunately the fans cut in and having stopped to check the oil I see bubbles on the oil filler cap.

Rad pipes top and bottom get hot.

Coolant bottle is red with fresh vx stuff and the oil dipstick is reading as normal no change in oil level or crud.

It seem like the coolant is not circulating properly.

I have been having thoughts it could be the HG on its way out, but wondering whether this could be the thermostat being stuck open or closed.

I had my AC refilled about 4months ago and all was well, Nice cold air constant and it still works fine.

My only problem is just lately the compressor has begun to click intermittently some days its fine and some days its clicking.

I'm guessing the compressor is on its way out although the AC is working fine.

The AC is still blowing cold which is the good thing just wondered whats the recommended.

VX will probably want silly money just to check the system.

Can the clutch assemblies be replaced in situe or is it a whole new compressor needed.

Omega General Help / Rad Cold Spot

Following on from my recent thread about the HBV I have discovered another issue.

After fitting the replacement part the other day fresh coolant was added and heat was top notch cabin got to sweltering.

This morning driving in I put the Heater on Max to get the cabin warmed up which it did but not to the same extent as sunday after refitting the HBV.

Before I came into work I checked the Rad and one side was cold I can only assume this has an air lock or something squeezed the top hose and air seems to be moving about the system same with the bottom pipe.

On sunday after fitting the HBV the Rad was flushed till clear water came from top and bottom hoses and the RAD is pretty new aswell fitted last year.

Can anyone suggest anything, I am thinking leave the coolant bottle cap off and leave to run whilst squeezing the hoses see if it releases the air lock or is/could it be a case of drain and refill again.

Any responses are much appreciated

My car does not push out any oil fumes so its not burning oil as far as I know.

I had a look at my car from the underneath at the weekend and its coated in oil, I have changed the rocker cover gasket previously using the black sealant and its been torqued down to correct Nm settings. This could be old oil but every so often I have to add oil as it flashes oil lack but not all the time.

Could this be a problem with the oil pump housing and if so How can I prove its this without removing the Cambelt if possible.

Has anyone ever changed one on a 2.0 and if so are there any diagrams available for fitment.

The oil loss is not excessive to bring the engine oil light on just the oil lack on the MID.

Its a problem which I have been thinking about for a while but needs urgently sorting.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Will a V6 HBV be ok to put on a 2.0?

Was driving along last night and the Check coolant came up on the MID stopped to find the Coolant bottle empty and that I was leaving a trail of coolant behind me.

Filled with water to get me home, had a look this morning to find the HBV at the back was soaking wet, so I paid a visit to a scrappy as last resort and they had a V6 in with it still in place.

VX parts department I thought was open on a sunday sods law they are not :'( as I would have bought New visited both VX in Hitchin to no avail :-/

I am looking to change my wheels asap for 16" wheels preferably elite style from my current CD level 15" alloy wheels.

What do I need to do to get the speedo reading accurately as I have read that it can increase/decrease on the speedo so it could be a case of your doing more or less than you think, not sure if there is any truth but confirmation would be much appreciated.

Would it be a tech2 job to recallibrate?

Now I have just had the steering idler done on my car and its now nice and responsive. :y but my dads >:(

My dads car however when the car is sat with the engine off and if you rock the steering wheel side to side you can hear a slight clonking, and if you touch the tracking arms either side you can feel the clonking. i havent checked it for dodgy wheel bearings yet, looking to check this tomorrow.

Could this be what I have just had done to my car, I never heard any clonking with mine.

I am thinking the steering arm but could anything else be causing this, at first when I was told I thought it was the droplink or the wishbones making the clonking but these look to be ok.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated

I need to find a decent Motor + Sunroof panel for my dads Omega.

I have noticed his being a 94M with the red dome the twist dial has the pin fixed to the dial, so you pull the dial from the roof with the pin

Mine being a 97P has the panel without the red dome and the twist dial pulls off the pin coming out of roof leaving the centre pin still attached to the sunroof motor.

Can anyone tell me if the earlier and later sunroof motor have the same connector as I am thinking to source a sunroof motor from a later omega, as the last time I had the sunroof panel off on my dads I managed to pull half the sunroof motor from the roof and me being me couldn't understand why the pin would not come out of the twist dial and so it got butchered.

Hope this makes sense.
