Omega General Help / Suspention arm rubber bushes question
« on: 20 March 2015, 19:38:06 »
Put the omega 2.2i 2003 through the MOT and it passed.  :y

Had two advisory's though.

Nearside and offside front lower (front) suspension arm rubber bushes deteriorated.

What bushes are they referring to? Are there any photos available of what they look like and are they a DIY job?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Omega estate 2.5 or 2.6
« on: 18 March 2015, 08:56:35 »
Looking to buy an estate. What should I look out for, rust wise etc?

2.5 or the 2.6 What is the better engine and why?

Is the cam belt the same DIY job on the 2.5 and the 2.6 or is one harder than the other and why?

Thanks

Omega 2.2i 2003 manual.

I am going to replace my old brake and clutch fluid with new soon, using a Sealey VS820 pressure bleeder and want to make sure that the fluid in the ABS is changed as well. Is bleeding the ABS a DIY job and what is the procedure?

I have heard that when the ABS fuse is taken out the ABS valves stay open by default and when the brakes are bled the ABS will be bled through at the same time. Is this correct?

Thanks

I noticed recently that the brake fluid level was below maximum but above minimum. I pressure tested the brake and clutch system from the reservoir at 10psi using a Sealey VS820 brake and clutch pressure bleeder and there are no leaks. Is this the correct psi to test with?

I have a problem that is getting worse. It is getting increasingly more and more difficult selecting 1st or reverse gear when the engine is running. What I didn't realise was that although the fluid level was above minimum it was below the clutch pipe that connects to the reservoir. Would this introduce air into the clutch system and could this be what is causing the problem?

Omega General Help / diameter of brake/clucth pipe nipples?
« on: 21 February 2015, 12:33:11 »
I want to get some Silicone Tube to fit over the brake and clutch pipe nipples. What size diameter are the nipples?

Will this fit OK?

Heater climate control set to 22 deg on auto. The temp outside is 2.5 deg. On Omega 2.2i CD 2003.

When I first start the car the fan is blowing very gentle for the 1st minute and then very, very slowly increasing to full. This takes nearly 8 minutes. Is this normal?

The windscreen instantly mists up and I can't see out of the windscreen for the first few minutes due to this. It will clear quickly if I put the fan on full in manual mode.

Thanks

In winter or summer time with the air-con on, should the engine temp stay fairly stable around 85 - 92, if the car is idling or doing 70mph?

As soon as I go down the motorway the temp drops from around 92 to around 65 depending on outside temp and speed.

I have noticed that all the rad fans are on when using air-con. No matter if its winter or summer. Is this normal?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Omega 2.2 petrol 2003 servotronic steering
« on: 17 January 2015, 15:50:26 »
Does my 2003 2.2 petrol Omega have the servotronic steering gear?

I find it ultra light after driving a BMW for the last few years and would like to adjust it to feel slightly heaver. Is this possible?

If my Omega doesn't have the Servotronic steering, then what UK models did have it?

Thanks

Omega 2.2 petrol manual 2003.

When the engine was at idle I had problems taking the oil filler cap off took and when I did get it off I found an excessive amount of air pressure coming out of the rocker cover. So much pressure that when I went to put the cap back on, it would rattle against the opening because of the excessive amount of air pressure pushing past from the cam cover.

I have already replaced all crankcase breather pipes with new and cleaned out throttle body etc, months ago. I did  not have this problem back then.

The engine runs the same as it always has with the exception of only doing 17 mpg around town with the air con off. Way below where it should be for a manual 2,2 petrol.

It does not use any oil or lose any coolant.

Anyone know what might be the problem and what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks

Can anyone recommend a cheap arch welder to re-weld a new flexi pipe onto the exhaust and weld some small plates on the front chassis legs?

Omega General Help / 2.2 exhaust flexi pipe blowing
« on: 30 June 2014, 11:00:41 »
Just when I thought the Omega was finally finished.  :(

The exhaust flexi pipe is now blowing and it sounds like a tank.

Advice needed on how to replace or repair, please?

Thanks

Why do people call the Omega's a MIG?

How is MIG linked to the Omega?

Omega General Help / windscreen wipers question.
« on: 15 June 2014, 17:41:15 »
Is it normal for the wipers on the Omega to go down past there park position and then come back up to park?

All other cars I have owned come down and park without going past first and then parking. There was some work done on them for the MOT before I got the car and I wondered if it was set right.

Thanks

Andy
