Omega General Help / Re: Restoration

Have I said that there's one near me?  ::) ::)

Looks like it needs too much GARDENING work to make it viable  :P

Finally got round to fitting the new screen wash pump on the Mondeo that has been sitting on the side for ages.  ::)

Unlike the Omega it's tucked inside the bumper and accessed from below after removing the undertray.

Typically, despite my best efforts I got a face full of screenwash when I pulled the old pump out, and after when I was adjusting the jets the pipes popped off the pump and I had screenwash pissing out from the bumper!  ::)

So I have to do it again now!  Pffft!  >:(
bodge quick bodge twice  :D

A sensible alternative to buying ex plod  ::) or "special" would be to buy the MANUAL V6 with Long MOT that's in really good nick and NOT been launched over every speed hump in the district  :-X
Indeed.  Now where on earth would you find one of those?   ;)

Try the for sale section.  £850 before it gets scrapped.  Still has 1/3rd tank super unleaded in the tank.
Yes , I got distracted and forgot to put the link  :-[

very nice Manual 2.6 Elite for sale cheap clicky

The reason for that price is the 2 large cats, ring them back and say you've removed them, the price they offer would be interesting. There's lots of decent motors being scrapped because of Khunt ulez.
when I had my Omega's cats stolen  :( Someone on oof said the 4 cats off a V6 had a scrap value of £350 if scrapped legally

Such a shame  :(
All because of a "green policy" which has already proven uneconomic and unworkable  >:(

And the idea that a scrap yard or other third party will make a big profit (tax payer's money) to take a nice car with LONG MOT is disgusting  :-X

what a shameful disgrace, and a sad "GREAT" Briton we live in  :(

Also a great loss to Mr Omega2018  :( bacause the £800 "scrap payment" will probably be used pretty quickly by service costs for the newer "green" replacement .

What is also really sad is that a manual V6 is probably worth £2k all day long to the right buyer ,but the short window available means that is unlikely to happen  :(

Sorry for your loss Mr Omega2018 (both financial and a car that has been a part of your life for years )

I have a Forskin dongle somewhere with a switch I installed to go between hi / low BUS. If it helps you, I can try and dig it out :y
:o
It's not that type of forum  :D

Are you sure, or do you just not read Opti's posts? 8)
I do read most of the posts on OOF  ;)
BUT ....
I have filters between my eyes and brain that block some content  :D

I looked into Fraud Kuga Diagnostics etc (the outlaws have a 2019 tractor juice version)
I got a Forscan dongle in the end  :y
plenty of versions  of dongle (OBD2 plug) ,I got the one that switches between high and low canbus .
you have to get an authorisation code (pretty simple) and there are (basic) free and in depth paid for versions of he software  .
fortunately ,other than a new battery(needed the car told) nothing has gone wrong YET  :-X  :P  :D

On the subject of filthy number plates, I had plod behind me yesterday
In front of me, on a dual carriageway, was a Tesla
Rear plate was unreadable, even up close
Plod swug around me and compleatly ingnored the tree hugging do gooder in the electric planet saving car that was breaking the law and drove past. he waas not in a hurry so could have easily have seen it and done something about it but no.
I'm not buying a Tesla, just to be "invisible" to the plod  :D
