Following on from Chiltern Railways' incompetence, I decided to lose some aggression on the way back from the station.  Its awfully quick, and awfully nimble when some idiot of a double idiot doing about a third of my speed decides to pull into the outside lane without looking or signalling.

Not all things - Chiltern based are bad. Must give a plug for HazzyDayz VW and Audi retrofitters in Markyate near St Albans.

Having had a quote from the VW dealer for a new infotainment system RNS810 which is fitted to the Phaeton (Video player/Hard Disk Drive etc etc) of £5300 I took myself over to HazzyDayz who rebuilt the software and upgraded maps etc to latest features for £270!!!

You hardly ever see Phaetons but there were 3 there today in the City of Markyate.

Fantastic bunch of guys and the rebuild took several hours so went to visit the sights of St Albans!!

Sounds like a good fine, do they only in car entrainment only? Or a garage as well? Seen Pheatons now for about £3k on trader  :o

Phaetons will only get cheaper... Set of tyres, £800-1,000... Brakes, same... V6 timing chain, writes the car off... Dsg, writes the car off...

Not cheap but tyres £130ish, discs and pads at an indie about £600 all round. Hope I do not hit the other issues. Still on original exhaust so that should be fun. But mileage on tyres has been excellent - 43000 on rears and 24000 on fronts. I occasionally think of a change but quickly revert back when I look at  the Touareg new price. Phaeton looks and drives like new still so will continue. It has cost on average £1000 a year for servicing, tyres, brakes and repairs. Only had brakes done by indie so far rest at main dealer.

not sure if I mentioned before but dealer price for new infotainment system was £5300 - so £270 to get it fixed today was appreciated.

Be a real bummer to buy that and then find the chassis is in two halves. :o

Last week. Radiator replaced, new shocks and cam belt changed by Master Serek at SOS in Huntingdon. Good job. Top man.  :y

Oh and a couple of weeks before corrosion and dings all over attended to locally. Ouch. But looking better now.

Washed and hoovered both 3.2 and the Zaf, general check over. Spotted a few chips in Zaf's windscreen.

Checked all the fluids.

All good for now.

Nothing as usual, but I have a week off work at long last. So hoping to muster the energy and inclination to start into the to do list I had ready some time in May.
We shall see.  ::)

Sorted some of the stuff that I took out of the Omega. There's a lot less space in a Metro to put it!
The dash cam stuck to the screen with some trim tape, and the fire extinguisher simple bolts to the front of the seat crossmember. But I can't get anything like as much in a 13" spare wheel compared to a 17"

Toyed with washing it, but the boiler needed some loving, and whilst I had the soldering iron out got sidetracked modding a server PSU to be a charger PSU, and swapping some speed controllers over on one of the quads.

By time I'd cut the grass, it was too dark to think about washing anything ;D
