Did a bit of maintenance today. Lifted the bonnet and pulled the dipstick out. There was black, slippy stuff on the end of it. Put it back and closed the bonnet. That was enough maintenance for one day.

I have moved her car so as to leave a couple of the neighbours in a more vulnerable position.  ;D

Changed the front pads on the terracan, also bought timing, aux and power steering pump belts, it's early on the project list once I have a garage to do it in.  :y

It's the age old problem, what do you replace them with if you want something that has all the good attributes of a V6 Omega but about 5 - 8 years old and under £8K.
Low spec 2011 XFs are starting to fall into that bracket, but in your case, check the boot size. Trouble with other rwd marques from that era, base spec means poverty.

Yes looked at a couple of XF's, no good for me as boot is far to small and access to it is too narrow, plus I wasn't overly convinced by the handling (that said the vehicles I tested were 5 years old so not the freshest of suspension).

Low spec... No thanks.
Low spec is relative. They are all well specced, even the bottom end Luxury.  But irrelevant, if the boot is too small :).  I think you are in for a struggle to get a saloon with a boot as big and accessible as an Omega.

Forget how large the XF boot is.

The car is essentially a 2+2 unless the driver and front seat passenger happen to be a dwarf or midget.

Yes X250 is not to bad, the X260 being much much better but no V8 option

Had a random flip round Autotrader, seeing if there is anything to replace TBE with.  Unsurprisingly, it wasn't a fruitful exercise.

spent a few days looking at all the car trader sites to find a  zafira B  to replace the last corsa on the fleet,  7 seats needed apparently  :-\ corsa has a boot that you could cram at least one body into  ::)
seen some right heaps , why do people lie when they advertise cars  >:(
drove many miles to see junk ,only fit for scrapping
then , get sent a link for one local by my brother , about 20 houses down the street .
(so close, i walked   :o :D)
mint car, lovely people, 12 months mot ,deal done , :)
collect tomorrow , will need to do the cambelt (i think Terry has a guide  ;D) etc and check it over, rustproof etc before it joins the fleet (even though it has a new MOT) because it's family  ::)

Do you ever have time to do any actual building, or do you have minions for that?
