French ATC strike
« on: 24 June 2014, 23:14:27 »

You read about these things but don't appreciate just how much disruption these blighters wreak on folk.

Mrs V has arranged to fly to England tomorrow to take her 92 year old uncle to have his eyes tested for new prescription as he cant see very well. Then the next day she has arranged a hospital hearing test as his hearing has deteriorated.

There is a fair chance she will have to cancel both appointments, rebook flights, hire car. I wonder if the French air traffic controllers would give a damn if they knew that this uncle fought (and miraculously survived) in many of the fiercest battles in France to help them with their freedom? Probably not.

Ryanair were asked to cancel 20% of their flights through French airspace. They have only done 15%. Shame they weren't all to French destinations.

Of course the lost revenue, overtime etc will be recouped by all the service industries by putting up fares/rates.
