Manual states Fuse 4 controls Cooling fan. Which fan is this do I have one or is it the rad cooling fans.

I think the reference to fuse 4 is only on diesel models. There are a multitude of fuses in the fan system, which is quite complex. The only feed from the main fuse box on the DBW V6 (guessing by your profile this is what you need) comes from Fuse 29. This powers the relay actuators for the fan system and air conditioning components that only function when the ignition is on. The fan motors are protected by a number of fuses in the engine bay fuse box.

Thanks Kevin Having been in the fuse box this week I wondered if I had moved a fuse although I did not have a spare fuse. Looks as there was never a fuse in this position.I am slowly learning to take photos before delving into the unknown.

That would make sense if the car is petrol. I'll check mine when I get a chance remember.
