General Car Chat / Re: New Motor
« on: 07 August 2014, 17:14:16 »
 Hi
Haven't had motor long enough yet, but, Omega 2.2  managed around 35mpg on a long run. Due to go to Amroth in South Wales soon will fill tank brim to brim, so will see then.   Thing is, I'm getting more than that around town.  :-* No where near the official figures though :'(

Oh and put 2 new clematis in as last years one has died for some reason  ::) It grew about 10 ft and now its just all dead wood  :'(

Cut it right down to the ground, every bit of it and and burn it, then give it a good feed and water, may be still alive, They sometimes do this, fungus or something like.
Been working on my motor today :y

Job done car performing as normal, accept that the ECL (little Gearbox) is still on.   Will this go out in a short time, (that's assuming no other fault is present), or will it need to be cancelled ?

  HI Ron
You've never seen a duck in the water flapping round in circles, at speed, maybe diving under and popping up somewhere else, bumping into other birds, not knowing which way he/ she is going, maybe after a bit of ours-u-father.    Come north of Watford you'll hear a few more.   ;D
Even Maggy Thatcher called an PM FRIT at question time and everybody down south (MPs)  looked  gone out,  until the BBC news explain what it meant.  ;D ;D :y

Just back from Cornwall on the back of a recovery truck yesterday, first time ever. Selector lights flashing, erratic gear change and MCL coming on as well as the one with the spanner on.
Selector switch malfunction diagnosed,  happened last day of Holiday.
Have read the maintenance guide on cleaning and resetting the switch, which I shall start soon, I'm aching all over after the best part of nine hours being bounced around in three different recovery trucks :( :(
My questions are, would this switch being dirty, cause all these malfunctions?
For cleaning the switch does it have to be switch cleaner or will a good blast of Brake and Clutch cleaner be as good?

Have owned my Omega 2.2 for the best part of eight years. 40k to 111k had to replace
    Rear springs once
    Rear shocks once
    Cat to back exhaust once,
    H/G and seals.
    Coolant tank.
    Pair wishbones  February 14
    Pair Drop links   March 14
    Windscreen,  Pebble damage
    Cam cover gasket, twice.
     Small dia breather pipe (split)
MAF Sensor.     Have original, did not need new, as above.
HBV,  boy did that leak take some finding.
Pair front wheel bearings (only one gone)
Have small patches of rust at the front bottom of rear wheel arch, I must fix this summer.
On my third Cambelt and water pump.
ALL original:-  Cam, crank, CO2 sensors
Must have missed something, don't think she's done to bad, though  :y

What is the rear ride height?   Many are talking about it, but try as I may, I cannot find it written down anywhere.   Could somebody point me in the right direction please.   Tha :y nks
