Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Garage/lock up clear out.
« on: 19 August 2017, 18:06:06 »
I have a few small items for sale that might be of interest and normally would link pics from photobucket, however I have not and will not upgrade and pay for what was a free service.

Can we still link to an album?
Would I be better off just listing the items?

I know a picture paints a thousand word and all that but.......

So here is a list:-
Bare front doors in blue, don't know the code sorry, good-ish condition with no rust, also have the two handles minus the locks

1 x brand new water pump for a 2.5 TD, never fitted.

1 x rear lamp cluster for pre face lift estate

1 x brand new HBV again never fitted

1 x rear load cover for pre face lift estate, fair condition, no rips or tears.

1 x document folder in good condition including the following pamphlets Front seat comfort, Audio manual and inspection system

6 x injectors for 2.5 TD, taken from working engine.

2 x standard door mirrors in black

1 x front tow eye cover in black

2 x standard orange side repeaters

2 x front wishbones, brand new still in bags, think they are Lemforder

Front door check strap reinforcing plates plus 8 hinge plastic washers

1 x climate control indicator and control unit, pre face lift.

As well as the above I have a complete dismantled 2.5 TD engine. I'm going to say the head and block are no good to man or beast by now, but the ancillaries should be good for spares.

I have no idea of any of the prices of the above, all I will say is I am open to offers and generally first decent offer will take it.

Postage may be a problem for some of the heavier items but pretty positive you could arrange a courier pick up, that way you control the cost of the carriage.

I am hoping to get rid of all that lot so I can hand back the lock up, a cost I can no longer afford.

If I have made any errors in this post admin, please allow me to correct.

Thank you for reading

Regards
Jon

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Omega 2.5 TD engine
« on: 03 December 2016, 16:25:57 »
I have this almost complete on a stand in a garage up in Scotland. Since the demise of the car this is now surplus to requirements.
My intention over the Xmas hols is to get spannering and strip it.
I know not the condition of the block but would presume the head would need some work.
I'll take some pics some time after the 21st so you guys can see what is there.

Just gauging if there might be interest on parts?

Cheers

General Car Chat / Piggy back CTS
« on: 03 December 2016, 16:12:28 »
Afternoon everybody.

I had to buy a small cheap runaround for out here, found a nice Mitsubishi Colt with the 1.5 3 pot merc diesel. Only problem is there is no temp gauge. I find that I do need to know what the engine is doing temp wise especially on the fairly steep climbs around me.
Now it has a CTS plugged into the thermostat housing, I was wondering if I could utilise the wiring from that for a stand alone digital temp gauge, pod mounted on the dash somewhere?
If I piggy backed the wiring would that, could that affect the signal to the ECU and throw some funnies into the fuelling?

I do have on of those inline units I can fit to the top rad hose but it is quite a distance from the awkwardly placed thermostat housing, ideally these should be placed as close to the engine as possible, yes?

Can someone with electrickery knowledge help me out here and point me in the right direction.

I should add there is a warning light in the dash console which tells you when the temp is too high, as yet I have not found the location of that and don't know whether it is an oil temp warning or a coolant temp warning, manuals for these are really hard to come by, plus the Mitsubishi dealers nearby don't have a word of english and my Spanish is woefully inadequate!

General Car Chat / Oooooooooooooops

 :-\
Just been told Omega has had an off!
I wasn't driving by the way and all involved are OK.
Wet roads and bad camber, swift sideways excursion taking a road sign out on the way.
I have been sent some pictures and will upload them later on. (tomorrow)
In this case I fear it will be written off due to extensive front end damage, plus the rust was taking a firm grip on the back end as some will know.
Anyone got any idea of current market value for a 97 Pre facelift Elite 2.5TD estate?
Probably more than I could get as a sale anyway.
We'll see.

Omega General Help / Diesel estate fuel tank leak
« on: 02 August 2016, 11:48:23 »
Been informed by SWMBO that the fuel leaks when the tank is filled.
I am not there before anyone says have a look...... :y

So the question is this, these tanks are plastic right?
Are the various breathers also made of plastic, are they fragile?
Apart from the filler neck connection, is the most likely place for it to leak from the access to the lift pump?
As far as I know it is not leaking from the filler neck connection and a quick inspection of the underneath of the tank by my young lad has revealed a stain path coming from above.
Had this been an old metal tank same as the Carlton, I would have just got a new tank for all they cost, but this one being plastic should not have the same corrosion problems associated with the breather spigots, unless someone can tell me different.
If it does turn out to be the lift pump access point, can you get new rubber seals for these or do you have to buy a complete unit?

For the moment it's just going to be max 30 litres in so she doesn't waste any more fuel!

Ideally I would like a diagram type drawing showing location and number of breathers and any apertures.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Wiper stalk
« on: 15 June 2016, 11:11:25 »
I wonder if somebody could help me to understand the internals of the wiper stalk, this is a pre facelift by the way.
Problem I'm still having after motor test (works fine) and relay replacement with new OEM unit, is that the wipers will work on the intermittent for a while then just stop, I then have to flick the stalk up to fast speed and back down again to normal speed then back to intermittent for them to continue working.
Is there anything in the stalk electrics that could maybe cause this?

TIA

General Discussion Area / Replacement parts pick up and storage
« on: 30 March 2016, 19:00:39 »
As some may know, I am in the market for a set of doors for my PFL estate. I have asked questions on here and it has been confirmed that FL doors will fit no problem, yes the trim will be different but I'm not fussed about that at all.
So far I have only managed to negotiate a deal for front doors from a FL saloon, I offered £70 for the pair, is that a good price?
I tried the local scrappy's around Dundee/Forfar but at the time they had no Omega's in, they also said doors from them would be around £50 each......

Of course it would be nice if somebody was breaking a champagne gold PFL Elite estate with good doors but I feel that is asking a bit too much.

So now we come to the crux of the matter, would it be possible for any of our scottish members to pick up and hold the 2 front doors for me until I can get over to blighty and collect?

The seller lives in Edinburgh.

Omega General Help / Recommendations please?
« on: 23 February 2016, 22:17:26 »
For a gasket sealant.
Which is best for a combined inlet and exhaust manifold gasket as found on Omega A 2.6?
Do you need a sealant on a new gasket?

Omega General Help / Tailgate gas struts
« on: 15 February 2016, 11:51:22 »
Had a quick search but nowt came up.
Fellow OOFers, I'm looking for a bit of info regarding the tailgate gas struts for the estate.
Can anyine with EPC tell me if they are a carry over from the Carlton or a completely different animal,
reason being, after a bit of searching on ebay the Omega (B) items are considerably cheaper than the Omega (A) (Carlton)!
I need a set of struts for the Carlton and was wondering if I could fit the Omega items (cheaper).
It would be nice to find out they are the same item, as far as I can tell the tailgates are remarkably similar in dimensions.
I would imagine GM would want to re-purpose stock like that?
Anyone help please?

Omega General Help / Windscreen wiper relay
« on: 01 February 2016, 17:39:12 »
Yes I know and apologise in advance for not searching but, time is of the essence here.
I am not with the car, SWMBO is.
A new relay for the wipers has arrived and she needs to fit it.
Please, pretty please, a location of said relay (exactly, with no ambiguity) so precise instructions can be forwarded and the offending item replaced.
Once again I apologise for this  :-[ ( I really should know this shouldn't I)

My pre face lift estate has fallen apart where the body trim is (was) after the rear arch.
Had a look at that website that sells panels and yes they do have one, but its the whole rear quarter and it costs over €300 euros without postage!
Anyone close to a scrappy that might be able to supply?
I have tried in the local scrap yards around here (spain) with a view that even with postage back to UK it would still be cheaper, however, not a one to be found!
Anyone in the scrap trade?
Anyone thinking about breaking a pre face lift estate?
I will be in the UK for Xmas and new year and should be able to travel reasonable distances (from Forfar) but hoping to at least have a sniff of a panel prior to arriving there if possible.
I do have a chap that can do the welding required but to save costs I said I would supply the panel???
I can supply a picture of the damaged area if required.

TIA

General Car Chat / Trailer electrics
« on: 05 September 2015, 23:00:17 »
Having just ahd a towbar fitted to my estate I didn't really get the chance to have a look see at the electrical side of the fit until a couple of days later.
Horrors! Bloody scotchblock connectors! and one of em was really really close to the rear lamp connector, so close that it just pulled out when wiggled!
So, I need to tidy this up and get rid of those bloody things ( I hate them)
Does anyone have any pictures of their possibly factory install with connecting plugs from the lighting loom?
Does anyone have any idea what I can use to splice into the loom to make a proper plug/socket type connection
I'm back at home for the time being but intend to be over in Scotland before too long so I can get this sorted to look at least a little bit more professional!
Would a 6 way connector do the job...... It should do as I specified only the humble 7 pin connector mainly because all I will be pulling is a small trailer, nothing that would require that euro 13 pin job!

Can you guys that have towbars give me some ideas please.

TIA

Omega General Help / EPC help?!
« on: 03 September 2015, 12:06:41 »
I'm loathe to put this request in but after scrolling through 16 pages of EPC help from the search I still didn't find what I require.
97 prefacelift Elite Estate 2.5 TD
Need to know Vx and Opel part numbers for the self levelling rear shocks.
Can that be cross checked against the air assist shocks for the 92 Vx Carlton 2.6 CDXi estate, this has the manual levelling system with the schrader valve in the boot.

TIA

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted. 2.5TD engine
« on: 23 September 2014, 15:54:18 »
Hello there.

I find myself once again on the lookout for a 2.5TD engine, a complete engine to do a straight forward swap. Cheaper then investigating and repairing which could be as much as a grand I have been informed, possibly more depending on labour.

Anyone know of a good unit for sale. Be nice if I could get a nice cheap motor that runs and is road legal, get it up to scotland and swap over.

Cheers
Jon
