Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Fog light switch
« on: 16 November 2009, 22:30:36 »
Should the front and rear fog light switches on my 99 elite be illuminated? The head light switch is but both fog light switches are not. If they should, are they repairable with new bulbs etc. if they are blown?

All advice appreciated :)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Updated Sat Nav discs
« on: 07 July 2008, 17:56:15 »
Hi all, are updated discs available for the sat nav in my '99 Elite? I believe it's the Philips Carin system, that has the small screen by the head unit. Where is the best place to get one from?

Many thanks for any help

Has the car got or had a towbar? Could be a reason if so.

Beware if you have self levelling suspension they have different springs to normal suspension.

I got mine through Autovaux. They were made by Sachs and MUCH cheaper than Vauxhall.

Omega General Help / Re: Blocking off EGR Valve...

I blocked mine off and it has always gone through the MOT emmissions test no problem, it can't be that important as Vauxhall scrapped it for the 2.6 and 3.2 engines and in an article in Professional Motor Mechanic Oct 2002, they recommend it's blanked off. I just cut a gasket out of an old metal biscuit tin lid.

Self levelling springs are different from normal ones apparently. I got a pair of ZF ones from Autovaux for £103 all in last year.

Try somewhere like Camberley Auto Factors, there should be a branch near you.

You'll probably find the rear discs are cheaper than the fronts as they aren't vented.

I always put a thin smear of copper  grease on the threads to stop them seizing and making it easier to remove them next time.

Omega General Help / Re: coolant level on display but coolant ok

That price was from a Vauxhall dealer. Autovaux weren't any cheaper.

Just replaced mine due to the same problem, a new expansion tank is around £34 as you can't buy the sensor on it's own.

Omega General Help / Re: Aux.belt/tensioner??

When I replaced my belt I had to remove the secondary air intake pipework to get the belt off, is this normal?
