may as well put in a bigger bolt then....
Welcome to OOF
Doubt there is enough thread left to put in a helicoil, is probably another retap, and an even bigger sump bolt. German crap.QuoteThough, I forgot to mention, I stripped the bloody sump plug again
Stupid, crap, useless, BMW monkey metal design . Yet another reason I think BMW couldn't design a poo-stick
So, thats the original stripped (before I had it), the donor engine one stripped (before I had it), and the retapped original stripped. I have never, ever stripped any other sump plug. What does that say about 'German Engineering'
Helicoil it?
One question though TB, hope you haven't got any oil on your weekend dress after all that workI can't, you haven't given it back yet
I'm sure he said he didn't...QuoteQuoteIt was that spot on, its was done by someone who cares...QuoteQuoteDont tell me you checked the cam timing as well....QuoteAnd I forgot Tunnie and I stripping down his Elite to check cambelt timing - which was spot on, but I think we know why his multirams dont. Anyone with a spare solenoid they dont want, contact Tunnie
I already told him the soleniod was bu66ered
I wouldn't want to really upset you now, Jaime...
Fin?

hi, i would like some advice plz, i have a 1998 omega 2.5v6 auto reflection model, needs rocker gaskets doin and may need a new steering pump, has stamped s/h upto 70,000 rest done local garage, its good condition for age, good tyres, had new front discs and pads for mot last year, mot runs out dec 2007. so how much do you think its worth roughly.I suspect 'bargain basement' territory - £500 ish - depending on mileage...
cheers

Funnily enough, while I was off taking my driving test, my Miggy was badly parked up. Got back from the test, went to start the miggy and it wouldn't crank. Thought it was the new starter for a brief moment, then I realised that I had left it in drive. So, while I was off passing my test my car was parked in drive with the handbrake off.
My ZX10 I have to run on dual compound due to the dual carriageway miles it does. That helps me get about 4k off the rear, and about double off the front.QuoteQuote
Really? I would want a LOT more than 12k out of a pair of tyres, on any car!!!!!
I wouldn't recommend a WRX then... mine chewed through a set of tyres in 6k, and that was all 4 being AWD!
Still lots better than my R1 which eats a rear tyre every 1200 miles (no joke, and I know people who get even less). Not fun when they're well over £100 each. Sports bike tyres are generally a lot softer than car tyres though.
On a 600 I owned
Original front 2500, rear 1500
Pirelli rear 1000 tread fell off
Michelin radials (better tan al above for grip) 4000 front 5000 rear
and so on 4000 and 5000
Oh no they are not - they are cracked to hell. I wouldn't drive it above 30mph...QuoteQuoteIf you drive like grandad, you should see many more miles. If you use the power, or throw it round corners, they will wear quicker... ...or go for rock hard tyres with less grip.
Tunnie tyres
Tunnie's Dad's tyres are good for 50,000

Wear seemed OK but I didn't have the car long enough to have to replace them, so I'm not sure how many miles they would have lasted.QuoteWe've had a few sets, grip very well but wear terribly. Didn't see much more than 10 - 12k out of the back of our facelift estate.
One neat design is that they have the 'rim protector' which stops your alloys getting damaged if you happen to kiss the kerb. Not bad but i'd want better for the money
You consider that poor? I'd be well pleased if I can get 12k out of a pair of rear tyres on a big RWD car.
