Phone companies are in on the act. Who do you think sells the premium rate numbers in the first instance (and takes a cut of the takings)?  >:(

Always make sure the engine's cooled off before you fill it. Otherwise, the resulting geyser of steam and hot water.. well.. :'(

 ;)

I would be interested in the corrosion inhibition / promotion properties of that type of coolant too.  ;) Still, when needs must...

He did well to catch it but not sure why he then hammered it off up the road again. I would have though the bulge in the seat of his pants would have reminded him to be a little cautious.

Well, a mate of mine drives an unmarked plod car. (Saw him at the weekend and their last 3.2 Omega is on its' way to pastures new this week :'().

I think the reason that's unmarked is what's in the boot. I.E. not traffic cones. :-X

From a purely traffic perspective I would agree that the more obvious the presence the more value it appears to have. However, I guess from a point of view of catching the read bad eggs rather than just making everyone behave an unmarked car is more effective.

I got given directions from a yokel referencing woolfardisworthy once.

I have no idea how he pronounced it but it had about 2 syllables, IIRC. Needless to say, I remained lost. ::)

Same with the bike. He really didn't seem to be outdragging the van behind him as one would expect at 137 MPH. Then again, not easy to judge speed when you're looking head-on.

It was the aftermath of the 2 panic braking incidents that caught my eye. :o

Cameras don't cause accidents, of course. :-X

Does make me wonder if they should be handing out courses on braking from high speeds rather than NIPs though...

I got a bit annoyed with a little twin that was circling above our village a couple of weeks ago, almost to the point of getting my binoculars out and reporting the git.

Then I discovered this: http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/news/releases/Second+appeal+issued+following+Four+Marks+armed+robbery.htm

 :o Ruddy BMW drivers. ::)

I thought it was an aerial photo outfit.

iirc if your lucky you might get away with it jumping a max. of 3 teeth :-/

memory is a bit fuzzy but I think I once saw one 4 teeth out in the Tidworth party

Depends which way they slip. A cam can slip in one direction until it won't run (inlets retarded, exhaust advanced) with no damage but a couple of teeth the other way will kill the valves.

Very little work to find out one way or t'other then.

yes as i am in there think will just fit tensioner tommorrow nite and check compression ! :y

Yep. Do it. Several members have had close calls and got away with it.

Just be very careful how you align everything. Try to get some tension in the belt and get the crank round to 60o BTDC before you sort out the cam timing to make sure you don't get any contact then turn the crank up to TDC on no. 1 and fit in the normal way.

Give it a compression check and if it doesn't look disastrously bad run it up to temperature and repeat the compression check.
