Thinking back it DID have an oil and filter change with all the work
But do not know if it was done before or after the Gaskets, Spark Plugs and Oil Cooler.

The oil cooler hadnt failed, was done 'while we are there' just in case
The old one was on its way out, quite rusty

Think an oil and filter change were done, but am not sure?  Why?

Feel free to do one if needed, oil and filter in the boot
Ive also that much coolant, feel free to flush that as well if you want!

Does / Did the Thermostat look ok?
I remember he struggled a lot there, was sort of glued on, some sealant (hylomar?) involved?
possibly a pipe going from there?

PLEASE excuse all my ignorance over all this, does the pressure test confirm it is water tight at running temperature as well? I know things expand / contract with heat / cool

Cheers

('no leaks' is a wonderful phrase to hear!)

Paul, I will PM you an address.

As for the cap, its a VERy useful little bit of test kit so now way is it going any where, easy enough to make though!

Some furtehr update, not to much done tonight but, the coolant system is all re-fitted and re-filled with new dowty washers (of the correct type) on the coolant bridge. A pressure test revealed pressure held for 60 mins ok and no leaks......

Next job is sort the cam covers and re-assemble!

Ow yes, I fixed the crack of doom to....it was annoying me every time I opened the door.

Success! Brilliant

That washer in the door is only 6 months old!
I did both cars, and they have both started cracking again in the last week or 2,
2 new washers were on my shopping list, they were either duff, or I installed em wrongly  :-/

Cheers

I cant comment on the tractor lump but, on the V6 it helps ensure that the air through the grill and rads also passes over the engine etc and down and along the tunnel.......when the one n Matchless'es V6 was off, the temp was quite a bit higher.

The temp has fluctuated more than normal recently, but with all its problems, put it down to that lot, Thought it was more of a splash guard than anything really!

(note to self : stop thinking! )

What are you doing about the missing parts? do you have em 'in stock', buying new, or getting off breakers?

Cheers and good luck!

Bloody hell sounds like a nightmare!

Thanks very much for this

As for the engine tray.....Its in my garage, was left off to try and help me see where the leak was, must have forgotten to put it in the boot, Shall I bring it up when I come to collect?

Cheers

Is there nothing in Display, Settings, Advanced?
I would expect one of those tabs to be matrox specifix and let you set up the 2nd (well 3rd) output.

She could, no probs, When we drive in convoy, I do keep her in the mirror,

had a few blasts to play where obviously the acceleration was too much
had to piss of a tit in a 407 at one point, dawdling along at 50, I overtake, so he speeds up, lights on full.
Then hit a 20 for roadworks, right up my arse.....I keep to the 20, as it ends he goes to overtake.....and faded in my rear view mirror  ::)

so smooth now, no pause at all

Loved passing Nantwich as well, anyone who passes will know Snugburys ice cream do a straw structure on their land, always worth seeing.

This years was a mini Lovell Telescope (Jodrell Bank Dish) looked amazing.

Ive a good few hundred miles to do next week, got a 'team building away day' near ripon next week, so be around yorkshire a bit.

Picked my car up from Mark last night,
He has finished fixing my coolant leak which turned out to be a much bigger job than expected.
Also fixed many other issues, see the Jimbobs coolant leak thread for details.
Also thanks to all else involved, ie TheBoy for tech2, Matchless for the aircon, Ron for the new camcovers and anyone else I've missed.

Drove the car the 100 miles home, erm...erratic driving style ;)  and averaged 61mph, with a consumption of 25.5
that is a good few mph faster, aircon also on, and STILL a good few mpg more than I managed going.
Car is also a lot smoother and quieter :)   Beautiful to drive again.

Checked the levels when I got to work this morning, and not a drop of coolant down, slight smoking from passenger side camcover, which will probably disappear in a few hundred miles.

Cant thank Mark enough for this, been without proper transport for a very long time now  :y

 :D

Cheers!
Jimbob.

Yes, put to good use on mine as well.
Some strange things wrong that had probably been there since new!

Its the knowing what it should be doing to correct it!
