Curb light lens has come off
« on: 22 June 2017, 20:49:06 »

The curb light lens in the drivers door has come off. it looks like it should clip back on but won't.
Any one any experience?
Also the one on the other side is blown. How do I access that.

PS the questions at the bottom got me! It tool a min to remember what the left pedal was on a manual! So long since i drove one!!

Thanks

Mike

its a plastic lens that fits to the black plastic ive just glued mine back on the other week dab of glue around the edge, (unclip it first from the door panel and remove wires) hold it down for a bit and leave to dry, wipe of glue edge looks good as new.  there is an edge on black part put something flat in the an prise it out.

I had to glue mine back on after I attempted to remove it to change the bulb and promptly tore the lens off the rest of the unit..

IN the forum guide on how to change a broken headlight adjuster I learned that to remove a headlight lens I put the headlight in the oven at 150 degrees for 10 minutes, and to reassemble it I repeat the process. It works a treat. Best to wear thick leather gauntlets..

This won't work on these as the lenses are heat 'welded' rather than bonded with goo. The heat for removing headlight lenses is more to do with softening 15+ year old goo than actually unplug them ;)
