I've got a 2003 2.2 Omega CDX auto estate. The near-side front door lock doesn't work using the remote so I guess that's the solenoid failed.
I also have a 2.5 V6 CDX saloon, vintage 2006)  that I'm going to scrap. So I'm wondering if any of the door lock solenoids from the V6 are usable on the 2.2?

Also the blower for the climate control on the 2.2 doesn't work although the controls do. So that might be the heater resistor packed up? Would the resistor and / or the blower motor be usable on the 2.2?

Anything else I might want to scavenge?

Thanks,

The 2.2 has a control pack for the speed of the fan...When this happened on my 2.2 it was the fan itself that went faulty. I think the fan out of the 2.5 would fit  :-\ I robbed a fan from a scrapyard Omega....tho carnt remember which engine type but more than likely a PFL..

Can't remember if the CDL plug is different on very early cars.  I'd grab all 4 anyway.

If its a MY96 (as opposed to a MY95) CDX, it will have climate, thus you can swap over the fan speed controller and fan unit itself.

Reading a current thread, keep the idler arm, not too hard to remove. Even more valuable is the central steering arm to which it attached. When removed you can no longer steer the car, but so what?

I believe he meant 96.

No Omega was built in the UK btw, every one rolled out of the same German factory, last being in the first half of 2003.

I've just changed the front passenger door solenoid on my 2003 Elite. I had two used ones 'in stock', one from a 2001 car and one from a 1996 car. The electrical connector and plug on the 2003 car and 2001 solenoid were both an oval shape and fitted snugly, but the connector on the 96 solenoid was squarer; and although the oval plug fitted sufficiently to enable me to test it worked ok, the plug fell out when I released it.
So, basically, the plugs would appear to squarer on earlier cars and oval on facelift cars.

Whoops and apologies! Exactly so, the donor 2.5 CDX saloon is 1996 (MY1997).
The 2.2 Z22XE CDX auto estate is 2003 (MY2003). Built 25/03/2003 maybe.

Anyway the CC reports fault codes:
00027 - Blower Motor Voltage High
00032 - Left Solar Sensor Low Input

Where is the Left Solar Sensor?
And does the 27 point to the blower itself or the hedgehog resistor?

Thanks,

when my hedgehog failed the blower motor ran continually I had to remove the fuse to stop it running even with ignition off.

Clear the solar sensor code, and see if it comes back.  The FL ECC frequently, erroneously, throws up a solar sensor code.  The Solar sensor is the small dome in the middle of dash, up against windscreen

Thanks. I've long wondered what that dome was. I am still at a loss to know how the ECU knowing if the sun is shining will help it manage my engine better. Aircon? Cooling? Heater? Lights? Dash illumination?

Its for ECC, so it can account for amount of heating from the sun. FL is more clever, and has a left and right sensor in that dome.
