Omega 3.2
« on: 26 July 2017, 20:34:32 »

Hi all well after renewing head gaskets etc couple of problems.
Cars runs fine no pinking but need to replace rocker gaskets as the elring ones are leaking. No problem Vauxhall originals will be going on at some point.
1st problem is fault code 1500 know what it means but what's causing it as car accelerates etc as it should and where is it.
Next is it needs complete exhaust from manifold to the tailpipe (estate version) best place to buy one and maybe a link
Self levelling shocks been on the list for a while but was quoted by one vx dealer £189 each
Need someone who can help with solving air con as had it regassed nothing came out when turned on so they emptied the gas until I can get it working

Take her up the A1 to Huntingdon and let Serek cast his expert eye over your car. He will tell you all the work required and will do an excellent job.

You won't regret it.

Self level shock are expensive. However you can buy normal shocks on ebay from Germany or poland and just disconnect the self level pump/fuse

Air con was regassed but wouldn't blow out cold air. The bloke thinks the compressor clutch wheels not working so I asked him to empty it.
As goes self levelling I'm keeping it as standard so just wondered if there are other suppliers for the shocks

If you want to keep it standard, then the only manufacturer of the self levelling rear shocks is Vauxhall / GM - no other manufacturer made them for the aftermarket; presumably due to likely low demand.
Munro do a ride levellers kit, but they work off the same principle as the old CD Cavaliers in the late 80's - there was an air valve mounted on the boot / tailgate aperture which could raise or lower the desired ride height by using an airline or manual pump. Not ideal really. The height was adjusted manually and not automatically as the standard system dependent on weight in the car.
If you are not in a rush for them, they do crop up occasionally if you are prepared to search online. I have bought several for saloons and estates over recent years, 'just in case' and all have been under £50 each.
