Random Coolant Dumping
« on: 29 July 2017, 16:04:46 »

Hello,
I have a 2.6 manual estate on a Y plate. The problem I have is that at a random time the coolant will leak and empty the expansion tank. The most noticeable time this happens is if you start the car and drive to the petrol station, Mrs Deviator keeps coming out to people telling her she has a leak. I don't drive this car that much, so have only just seen it myself. it appears to be leaking around the nearside, in the engine bay, very close to (if not) the radiator. There are now dried coolant marks in this area.

In the past I have flushed the system, re-filled it and then ran it up to temp/fan cutting in on the drive and it was fine.  :-\

I haven't fully investigated this as Mini Me has stopped me getting near any car for a while.

My question is, what is in this front nearside corner that could provide a random coolant drop?

Thanks in advance.

Mine went in the same area last month. Thought hose clip had worked loose but it was the rad itself. :'(

Thank you for the replies, I was hoping there was a cheaper solution, but hey ho.

Is there a recommended radiator? Or just an eBay special.
