I have to say, my Omega has been and still is an absolute diamond of a car. I must admit, it's in need of some maintenance now, but due to the 3 years, 24k+ of next to faultless mileage - I am going to find the time to make it happen.

A brief history of my car....
Bought 3 years ago for £230 with no MOT. I'll admit, I bought it for the manual gearbox with the grand idea of doing a 'crazy' conversion. However, the car drove too good to scrap so it went to the MOT I had booked before I bought it 
So it had it's MOT, it failed  A set of front pads and a bulb later I had a fresh ticket!

Since then, it has needed a set of tyres and a battery (above routine servicing). That is it.
It has also took Mini Me for his first ever car journey.

I just wanted to acknowledge how much this car has done for me for so little money and love. I sincerely hope this car runs forever (well until 2040  ) but when it does give up, I hope I can find another Omega.

You have a dose of an incurable condition;  it is called Omegalovenomatterwhat.  It is what most of us with Omega's, or who have ever had an Omega will know about.  No doctor can cure this, and ain't it great!!

My current Omega, the last of many, I aim to run until death do us part, which no doubt will be before 2040!

I had occassion to go to homebase yesterday to buy a tin of red oxide primer for my new rusty towbar.

It's 1/2 mile on foot and 1 mile by car and the speed limit is 20 and 30.

I went in my 3.2 MV6 and it put a smile on my face. Probably cost me £3 in fuel.

I bought the car as a bangernomic stop gap, and now every time I see something that might replace it, I immediately think "Oh no, that would require me to get rid of the Omega and I'm not doing that"

Omegatitis 

This current omega 2.6 fl needed a few bits doing when i bought it but bodywork was good. Most expense was the cam belt kit . Since then all i have done is fluid changes , a new alt belt and pulley wheel 
Oh and tons of polish  Have been mulling over an ls400 but cant bare to part with blackie

I'd be having serious worries if my Omega was supping fuel at the rate of £3 a mile!!

Aw, be fair, Johnny, it's nowhere near as bad as that - it was one mile EACH WAY, so only £3 for TWO miles! Could you hear the Omega smacking its lips as it drank deeply of that life-juice?

My 3.2 Manual drinks fuel.......      but at 46p a litre of LPG, mustn't grumble.

Same story like mine. Bought my first Omega 4 years ago. 300 Euro...one year Tuev. I planed to ride it to the end. But I fell in love with that car. So I allowed her to stay.

Because much work was needed on that car, I bought a second one. So i can exchange them in use and do deeper work on the one not in use.

And when I say deeper work, I mean very deep work. Both cars will become better every year and both cars got Tuev.

It's a disease. It's how I've ended up with two, plus a shed full of "useful" spares. Every time they aggravate me, I end up looking at them and forgiving them.

The nearly-Mrs-GK is yet to learn that trick...

Generally nothing is illegal. If you do good work and you get the Tuev OK...be happy. But do not try to hide your work. They want to see it. Only light painting, no panels.

Doc Gollum is right. The most fatal error you can do by repairing your car is to start the angle grinder on a Sunday afternoon
