The irony of us visiting much of the National; Trust portfolio 30 years ago wasn't lost on us in those days.

Just where do you draw the line on rubbing out history to suit our consciences? Far better to be honest about it and - for example have an admission that the place was built with slaving money or whatever and perhaps have a display to that end. There are loads of fabulous places in Spain built with money from the Spanish Conquests.

I think the Guardian are just trying to drum up readers.

The Grauniad should revert to its former title of The MANCHESTER Guardian, to reflect its small-minded parochial insignificance and leave proper news stories to grown-up newspapers.

Precisely and one to be proud and this is what the small minded Great Britain hating leftards hate. The Grauniad were originally a very right wing pro-capitalist Manchester based newspaper who were left an absolute fortune in a trust that should have lasted forever. Once the leftards took over and had big London newspaper delusions, they p*ssed away all the money, have moved back to Manchester where they are broke and rely on begging for donations to cover continued losses. Which goes to show that useless leftards are also useless in business and I'm not sure they have a long term future.

I always knew that the Grauniad, under whatever name, was a load of w*nk, but I didn't know that they had slunk back to the provinces in ignominy - tee hee!

Its one of the least sold papers in the UK. Its small circulation is constantly dropping. In fact , if it wasn't for the number of copies the BBC buys weekly, and then broadcasts as news, it would be hardly worth bothering to print it.
Actually they only spend £2500 p.w. on buying it, but it still seems a terrible waste of public money.

It is helped to keep going by keeping much of its money in the Cayman islands and investing in offshore hedge funds to avoid tax, which is deliciously ironic.
