Italian tune up works well on 3.2
« on: 28 August 2017, 20:43:58 »

Been disappointed of late with 3.2's fuel use, 260 miles to the fuel light. But it's only been on work runs into London and local runs. So end last week gave it a good ragging, generally drove it like I stole it. As fuel use was rubbish anyway  ;D

Today took Little MissT to Portsmouth for the day, so just an average days traffic. Not a fast run nor slow but some traffic about.

110 miles later getting home, 33.2 mpg. Happy with that as did red line it a few times joining motorways. Something must have fixed it self when in stolen mode last week, last year on runs to Wales I could not crack 28mpg out of it.  :-\

That's about 5% more than I ever got out of the Desmond.  Then again mine was the skip rather than the saloon.

A34/M3 junction to Eastleigh doesn't count as it's all downhill ;D

Good point, clearly the 3.2 is saying I need to live in a country with a warmer climate.  8)

In theory, nothing. MrsT and I have always said we would move abroad if the opportunity came up.

I was in the running for a role in Kuala Lumpur, Sky bought a little start-up company there and several of the team moved out there. My boss's boss (Head of Tech) put me forward, but sadly I did not get the role, but was in the running   8)

33.2 mpg from a 3.2 ! do you drive it downhill and push it back up ?  ??? ;D
I thought I was doing well to get 25mpg from mine, although I do very little motorway driving.

no wasn't there but you're right it was downhill - start was 13 feet higher than end according to Google Earth.  Over 5 miles ::)

32mpg is good going :y, but I had no doubt you could do it on a decent steady run.  I've managed 30mpg from Tenby to Oxford, including some loss of temper with other drivers on the A34, as normal.

I suspect, being auto, your MPG in Wales was due to frequently not being in TC lockup - that sort of driving hammers MPG.

I get 34 mpg on a gentle motorway run and less if I have to brake or accelerate.
