Bugs
« on: 29 August 2017, 13:18:28 »

I was just listening to Jeremy Vine on R2 talking about the lack of squashed bugs on cars these days and it made me realise that I havn't washed either of my cars for weeks, both have done significant motorway miles, yet they are both pretty much clean of squashed insects.  :(

What's going on?  :-\  Climate Change? Pollution? Farming practices? or is it evolution and the bugs hang around a little higher these days to avoid getting squashed?  ::)

Any ideas chaps?  ???

Old motorcycling joke:-

Q. Why are the windscreens on Harley Davidsons always so clean?
A. Because with a Harley, the bugs have plenty of time to get out of the way!  :y :P

Well.....in order to own a Harley V-Twin you need to be....

1. A fat bastard.
2. American.
3. Happy to ride everywhere at 40 MPH
4. More than sixty years old
5. Have a grey beard and a bandana to cover what little hair is left.

1. - I'm working on it .
2. - Nope, although I quite admire them.
3. - Doesn't seem as unnatural as it once did.
4. - Only a couple of years to go.
5. - A few of days without a razor would produce the grey beard, it would need to be a big bandana to cover where the hair used to be.

No you don't see as many as there used to be, but it seems there's plenty about as my kale was quickly stripped to the stalks by caterpillars!  :o  ::)

Can't say as I've seen any butterflies either, bees I see plenty of as I have 3 wild flowers growing 1 in the front garden 2 in the back garden I was going to pull them up as they look untidy, but the bees love them so I've left them in.

When I were a lad.....there used to be so many wasps and bees and butterflies and ladybirds that we couldn't go out in the summer coz we'd get stung to death. Not like that these days.

I have a couple of Red Admirals that often visit my bedroom and no amount of encouragement will persuade them to leave. Never mind, they don't harm anything and are quite pretty, so if they like it there, I'm ok with that.   :) :y

What absolute tosh! I used to be gullible enough to believe most things, but after teaching mostly teenage males for nearly 20 years, I have a finely-tuned bullshine detector, so better luck next time, ronnuyd!  :P
