Ok, so I've been ripping out part of a patio & happily admit that I'd totally underestimated how much rubble would be removed. I, wrongly, thought that one medium "Hippo" type bag would do and filled it in a morning. So bought another and filled that as well.
This morning I rang up to get the bags emptied - that's about 3 tonnes of stuff. "No problem", I was told - we have a vehicle in the area, it should be with you later this morning. It was, arriving within the hour. Two young lads, wearing corp gear and driving a Transit Luton, albeit with a tail lift. I showed them the bags, which due to the weight they unloaded BY HAND into the van until the almost empty bags could be dragged onto the tail-lift.
Best part was the travel. They set off from Birmingham early this morning, empty, and headed to Lincoln where they had a collection first thing. My job came in when they were half full. They finished loading one of my bags & drove to the tip in Nottingham to unload and came back 3 hours later for the other one before heading back to Brum.
This is a nationwide service with liveried vehicles, staff, call centre etc. Clearabee.
They seem a decent company, but I can't see how they make any money, vehicle costs, staff, fuel, landfill charges.
I've still got masses of rubble to shift & a proper skip coming to finish the job
