I view next Monday's MOT with some trepidation. You may have read my posts about a mysterious coolant leak, which despite UV tracer dye I have been unable to identify with any certainty and applying resin to the suspect areas, I am still losing coolant - which means I probably need a new radiator.
If the MOT man gives me bad news on Monday, then the expense of a radiator plus a few woes that I know about and any others that he could tell me about could easily write off my much-loved steed.
I'm not religious, but your prayers areked for Monday, please.....

It can be something of a conundrum especially if like me you're on a tight budget.If the Omega fails and it's going to cost more than you think worth spending on it then you can think I'll use the "repair" money plus whatever I can get for the m.o.t. failure and buy another car,but what are you likely to end up with for a slender budget?A different car which breaks and costs to fix?Or get lucky and drop on a good reliable car?Do you feel lucky?Or do you bite the bullet and spend the money on the Omega which is a known quantity to you?
All this is pure speculation of course as it'll pass no problem

Similar to the way I was thinking, Baza, but as you say, limited income/pension.
If I can't afford to repair the Omega then I can't afford another car.
I DO have a bus pass.....

Spend the repair money and scrap value on a push bike plus Lycra.

We are not kicking you when down, all the bicycle riders on OOF are very happy that you've seen the light and joining us as a fellow cyclist, welcome to the bright side.

If you have any questions before going to buy your bike and Lycra then I will do my best to answer them and where that serious cyclist Guffer is always helpful I'm sure he will help as well.

Maybe we ought to write an OOF guide to cycling - Choosing a new bike, clothing, lights and other safety gear. Have you thought about what sort of bike you want yet and set a budget?

I've already got a bike, burien id its various bits in my garage - a 1952 Sunbeam S8 - which mdeffo does not require me to wear lycra; just a flat cap and pac-a-mac.
It will see all cyclists off the road in a cloud of leaded-petrol fumes.....

A real motorbike. With no Omega to fettle and fix every weekend, this looks like an ideal substitute.

A bit of Russian ingenuity with a washing up liquid bottle, a litter pickup stick and some gaffer tape and you will be fine.

I've postponed my MOT appointment for another week until I can get the screenwash to work - no point in taking it to the test centre, knowing that it is bound to fail.

Get some Kevlar reinforced puncture resistance tyres and you will then very rarely have a puncture.
