I think, from memory that the fuse and relay layout are on the fuse box cover, just below the steering wheel and to the right.

I couldn`t tell you which ones they are though, sorry.

True but highly unlikely they would both go at the same time.

I think in all the years of driving older cars I`ve only had one stalk give me problems and never had wiring problems.

SWMBO had an Astra that both dipped beam bulbs went within a day or 2 of each other

Depends... once one has gone unnoticed, tother won't be far behind if used regularly...

Is it not one of the smaller black relays in the cabin fuse/relay box, same as the type for the fogs ? (can be swapped to prove)

One of the small black ones, but same as the Self Levelling one :y

It will most likely be the relay IME, failing that, the stalk (which tends to cause opposite - bringing full beam on unexpectedly, esp under braking)

relay is the top small black one in the box under steering column.with this pulled nothing happens.no main beam,no blue light either. so check main underbonnet fuse 6 and this relay .

Just going to check now,if the relay or fuse 6 has gone.Is it best to buy from vx,also TB you are right when the stalk went peat tong last time 2 years ago.The main beam came on when i was driving,so its a good chance its the relay or the fuse.I know the fuse box under the steering wheel is numbered, but is the box in the engine bay numbered.Dean.

the big main fuse under the bonnet also runs other things so if nothing else is amiss then the relay is a good starting point. examine the relay or swap it with other similar type if there is one. you could also put a voltmeter or small bulb with leads to the terminals in the fusebox where the relay fits to confirm if the relay is getting voltage (see relay for coil terminals markings) and also to try bridge the relay output pins to see if main beam comes on. just checked on mine now for you. the small pins on the relay should get power when you turn lights on main or flash and the two larger terminals are the output. bridge these and beam should come on. there are two fuses in the cabin for main beam left and main beam right. unlikely they would both blow together. so suspect relay first.confirm as described .

Hi all just a quick update.I went out last night as it was dark i tried the full beam, both flash and permanent worked for 10 min then went off.I have the layout for the fuses in the cabin but not the relays,in the cabin or the engine bay.I can see two small relays in the cabin box to the left of the fuses both next to each other, are they the ones you mean.I am a bit reluctant to start pulling fuses and relays,in case i knacker some thing else up.Dean.

yes the left hand small relay is the main beam one. mine only has that one. if the other is the same which i would think it is swap them to eliminate it . cheers..also if everything else works ok then the underbonnet fuses are most likely ok .

Hi all, been a bit busy lately. Finally swapped the relays over and full beam now working, but fogs are not. After looking on eBay there are a lot for sale, from £1.49 to £20.00 :o.They are all used don't see any brand new,and i don't know if you can buy them brand new.It is a 12v 16a GM90229206 relay, don't suppose any of you guys have any known good ones knocking about.Willing to pay postage and some beer tokens. Thanks for all the help,Dean.
