Amazon Firestick
« on: 23 September 2017, 22:34:34 »

For some reason says that it is not connected to the internet. Checked all the connections, can still get catchup TV through the same system, which is routed through the house wiring via an Aztec plug pair. It appears to see the network as it lists 2 or 3 others, but insists that it is not connected. :-\ :-\ :-\
Any ideas? :y

It has suddenly decided to work again on the Firestick!!! I have done nothing except pull out all cables and refit. I can only assume a poor connection somewhere. :-\ :-\ :-\

Or it just needed a reboot as our electronic devices do every so often. ;)

Not all electrronic devices, Lizzie - mainly those with a microprocessor inside - they get confused sometimes and need to start back at the top of their programme.

I'd already given it, the router, and the through plugs several re-boots, and was about to re-boot it out of the window. >:( >:( >:(

Yes,well remember telly would go on the blink and dad would give it a thump on top or the side[as he deemed appropriate]until normal service was resumed, then it'd finally give up the ghost and he'd have to concede defeat and call "the man" to fix it.

...........and in those days only a television repair engineer could do the job, and the TV was worth so much that it was all worth it.  These were days long before our current throw away society when it is cheaper and better to buy new than repair.  After all, you buy an electronic device and it is obsolete almost immediately, so everyone wants the latest model not the old one::) ::) ;)

Its quite a dumb device, so it might have actually been lying.  You may find that "not connected" actually means something like "I could not talk to Amazon", which is definitely not the same thing.

Given that I could still get catchup TV via the same through plug, I think you are probably correct. :y
