Going back to Webby's original post, mine was exactly the same although all four shocks(Sachs on the front and NOS self levelling) were much more recent.
I wasn't worried about the fronts as they're the same as a saloon, but the prices for estate rears started at £70 each and most places were out of stock. So I bought all four from ATP for about £90 delivered. The front of the car came up 30mm
, the rear didn't change much due to the self levelling but the pump rarely runs now.
A nice smooth comfortable ride was restored by fitting these, and due to buying ordinary rate rear springs the back is considerably more predictable.
Wornout springs and shocks are much more common than you'd think; as the degradation is so gradual it often takes someone who didn't adjust to it as it happened to point out just how bad they are. I reckon every car I've owned had new shocks at some point, and I've always gained a worthwhile improvement.
