I last bought a reel of 2.5 cable in 2013 from B&Q when I installed a new section of ring mains, so I should be OK according to this report.

However, there will now be a lot of worried electricians out there.  It looks as though this case should never have got as far as it has.  So much for regulations and standards being enforced! ::) ::) ::) :(

TBH, I think its low risk even if you do have this cable.

The test would have been done at the cables maximum load carrying capacity.

This would very rarely, if not ever happen and certainly not long enough for much heat to get generated....
