Rain forest
« on: 06 October 2017, 19:19:38 »

Can anyone remember being told how computers were going to save the rain forest as they would do away with the requirement for paper? I guess the rain forests have all gone by now, given the ludicrous amount of paper dross that comes through my letter box. >:(

Going paperless was never going to save the rainforests, as they're predominantly hardwood. And paper is made from softwood grown as a crop.

I think they have all been cleared to create palm oil plantations. :( Palm oil is very popular with the processed food industry as a texture enhancer where they use it in everything from bread and biscuits to Nutella and peanut butter. :( Unfortunately, it is also very bad for us where it is very high in saturated fat and chemicals in processed palm oil promotes the growth and spread of certain cancers. :(

Unfortunately clearing rain forests for palm oil plantations is also very bad for Orangutans!  :'(
