Left is before, right is after. Ok, they're still a touch yellow, but for 2 minutes effort on both sides, it has to be work a go.

You can buy G3 from Halfords, its an expensive way of buying it but saves having to wait in for a parcel delivery!

I've used G3 a few times to clean up headlights that are yellowing after they have previously had the sanding technique, works OK as long as they aren't too far gone.

Why not? Brasso is about the same abrasive as T-cut. Ie - barely abrasive at all.

I just did mine using the thing you use for refurbishing paint on cars with some paste you also use for that. Took about 2 minutes per side and clear as a day now.

Wet n dry 1200/1500/ then g3 or autosol, then a good polish with autoglym.

That's what I do. Both lamps done on the car, and cleaned up in under 15minutes. In the street and the dark.

headlamps are too small an area to bother with a polisher. Plus, you're more likely to burn through the paint on the bumper/wing edges, fling compound everywhere or tear the mop to shreds. Far more trouble than it's worth.


Do them by hand, but don't skip the wet and dry paper used on a block and with plenty of soapy water. This physically removes the grot, and means the compound can work as intended to provide the finish.

So much effort by hand when you can do it in fraction of the time with a machine. It wont damage anything either unless you rush it or something, not paying attention.

I go over mine regularly  with T cut keeps them clear of build up.

  Brasso is fine on paintwork Just wipe off gently when dry.  or if you want to rub out some other car's paint mark, rub it while wet.  i find it a bit more abrasive (and so faster) than t cut but chemically it does not damage paint.

Have done mine twice over past couple years with the sanding and drill for the buffer, need done again and only yesterday managed to get a parking spot outside the house so my job today using the Meguiars two step kit from Halfords, as the headlights look pretty bad, rest of car looking good bar the finishing coat on the re-spray from 2008 is peeling on the wing mirrors and petrol cap cover

Just finished the headlights took about 15/20 minutes with the two coat system, they have came up as new, the spray coating really does the trick, highly recommended, cost about 30 quid, but plenty in the kit to last a few years!!!
