Oven degreaser
« on: 03 December 2017, 18:34:25 »

Does anyone know of a really good degreaser that would work on an oven.
I’ve tried a number of the general ones you can buy in the supermarkets but not really impressed.
The issue I have in cleaning the glass oven door, these products just seem to soften it up a bit, but after a couple of hours effort (mainly waiting I must say) it’s defo better but still some way to go.

Thanks

Steel wool soap pads (Brillo) for the oven door  :y
Don’t worry, it won’t scratch it.

Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner is great, and with a little elbow grease gets the door to look like new.  Brillo pads are best on the wire shelves.

The secret is also to do your oven every 6 months or so as this keeps the build up of grease to a manageable level ;)

You need the Industrial stuff that is used in the Catering Industry, ie, Pubs, Restaurants, Hotels etc, have a chat with your local Pub Chain rather than a Freehold one.  ;)

Out of interest, the Industrial Stuff Ive come across is also the best stuff Ive used for the after mess from a Failed Omega Oil Cooler.

Blade scraper for the door glass.

Talk to an industrial cleaning company, Ace janatorial in Sheffield sold something to my brother years ago, spray it on, let it soak for 5 mins, hose it off and leave it to dry.  I saw him use the stuff, no effort on his side at all apart from using a trigger spray and turning the hose on.

Went from 100% grotty to mint in minutes and this a a trade double oven.

Get it hot, cut a lemon in half and scrub away... residue should simply wipe off :y

Go to pound land. Buy a tub of astonish oven cleaner and a pack of scotch bright sponges. And clean with them, when finished, spray white vinegar and buff to a shine.
And don't be a dirty lazy. sod any more, and clean after every use with a normal kitchen spray,

Also cleans ally well.

I'm sure that a greasy oven improves the flavour of food.  :)

After a while there's so much in there that the smoke coming out of the oven sets off the smoke detectors, though.. Or is that just me? ;D ;D

Tried to find the stuff my Dad got me on Amazon and failed - that stuff will take anything off anything with very little effort.. but, I did find this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stardrops-Pink-Stuff-Paste-grams/dp/B00DU5SRIY/

Very appropriate name, I'm sure TB will appreciate it (only he's probably opposed to clicking on Amazon links so will never see it..) ;D ;D

"clean anything off anything" - reminds me of the inventor who created a chemical that ate its way through anything, but he was left wioth a problem - what to keep it in!  ;D

I've just had to strip the side off the cooker, following lunchtime's shenanigans of it popping the house trips (2/3rds of the way through a 17hr 3d print  >:(), and making a mess of my pizza  >:(

New element ordered, and also ordered Mrs TB to clean up behind the cooker now its out, based on the fact that cleaning is womens work.

You ‘ordered’ her, did you? What were your exact words?   ;D
