bloody wind :(
« on: 07 December 2017, 17:45:06 »

well went out to omega and was checking oil water etc and put the bonnet down and noticed something strange on the window, that was not there yesterday, so had a closer look and there is a crack from the corner on drivers side just up to the square patterns in the screen, no impact mark from a stone etc so something must of flown  into window as we had 60-70 mph winds around here, so rang around for a new window and all wanting above £200 for glass + rim. (standard) so had to make the call, the one to insurance so at least i'm only out £75 and replacing window on saturday. what a time to be having to pay out for a windscreen. just hope its not snowing when it gets fitted :(

Don't shoot the messenger, but cracks in the corner of Omega windscreens are often caused by corrosion.  :'(

I hope that this isn't the case for you Chazzer.  :-\  :)

I had my original screen replaced a few months ago.
The Auto Glass bloke warned me before he started that," if any corrosion has resulted in  the sill being holed" ; he would not proceed until I got it welded up.
Apparently they are not allowed to just plaster the affected area with goo & slap on a new screen anymore ;D
My car had light corrosion on the drivers side, which he hit with a wire wheel & painted on some rust treament.
I was quite impressed with the job to be honest  :y

I'm glad the window was fitted but noticed that there was some Quarter Turn quick release fasteners missing for the plastic grill that's under the window frame is there a part number or replacement part that will fit to lock it down, looks like 4 are missing, and cannot find a part number or general look on google under Quarter Turn quick release fastener, some are similar but don't look right size or shape on pic.  ???

I presume you mean scuttle fasteners. Not sure if VX still sell them, but might be worth a wanted ad on here.

yeah thats if forgot wat it was called lol. has trox and flat head bit on the top, only ones can find a push turn but don't think they will work as not enough space to push it in. there are push pin types that have lip on them that you push down and if removing you prise the top up but not to sure if will work + only come in a bag of 50 all says on vx parts list is x8 and think it was 158 ??? as part number.
