I could only afford a 75W Peavey and that was loud enough .. especially as it had no 'anti-thump' for when you powered it down ;D

Steppenwolf does it for me. :)
This was that non descript "Friday Night" type bongo tunes - the sort is by bands with stupid names featuring some other non descript talentless idiot...

...but sometimes I get in the mood for it, and today was one of those days ;D

Supposedly I have 17 speakers and 825W. If some were not working properly I'm not sure I'd know. :)
I'd have to look mine up if playing top trumps. Mine has the older B&W setup, not newer Meridian.

The 18 way seats are the same. Once set they never get changed. The fact that the driving mirror isn't part of the memory settings is annoying. :-\
Mrs TB drives mine, and the interior mirror thing is *REALLY* annoying.  A small thing, but if a 25yr old Vauxhall has it....

Just looked up the B&W setup - 20 speakers, 1200W. Allegedly.

'kin 'ell TB  I have done 350 seater venues with the band with a 1200 watt PA system .  .bit loud for inside a motor one thinks  :o :o :o :o
I suspect what they claim, and reality, might not quite match.  Even at 100% efficiency, that would be 100A into the amp...  ...which would be a significant cable.

Not that I know where the amp is.

But I would concede, it is quite loud.

Yes, I suspect they are the type of Watts that don't smell too great and tend to drop out of the back end of a cow. ;)

Since this type of marketing has become popular, we are suffering "climate change".

Are they related?

It's always been BS. When I was younger they never said whether it was RMS or PMPO and, no doubt, there are ten other ways to measure it now.

Ultimately it's about the sensitivity of the speakers.

Agreed; my Tannoy Yorks are quite sensitive, being housed in large bass reflex cabinets, and can do lots of structural damage with the mere 50watts (RMS) per channel from my Quad 33/303 amplifier/pre-amp combination!

And its all a complete waste of time anyway, unless you live in a detached house with no near neighbours.*

* Unless of course your a teenager, in which case you wont consider that type of thing. ::)
When I was a teenager in a terraced council house, practising guitar, for my future world domination of rock music  ;D....my Vox AC30 always had the volume set to maximum.
The woman next door used to throw milk bottles at me when she saw me.  :-[ ;D

Isn't Hi-fi more about the imaginary sensitivity of the listener?
