Wanted - 2.6v6 Timing belt kit
« on: 11 April 2018, 21:25:45 »

Hi, anyone have a timing belt kit for a 2.6?  Engine number 08541523.

Failing that, can anyone direct me to a cheap supplier?

Thanks.

The threads on those bolts suggest this may have been fitted.

Well thanks to biggriffins advice about swapping the new tensioners onto my existing backplate, I've just ordered one of these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222619968296

I thought I'd share as it seems to be a damn good price!

There's a tensioner pulley missing from that kit.

Also weren't these the kits that people we're buying g two off, because off the missing tensioner, and it was a cheaper way to get a kit....

I had one of those AC Delco kits fitted by the brilliant James (V6CDX) about 6 weeks ago and it was just fine - he would NEVER fit rubbish!  :y 8)

Was the kit complete or was there a pulley missing?

I've found another cheap kit, but this one doesn't show the bolts in the picture:

I'll say it, and get abuse.

Re-use the bolts you have, if there aren't any in that kit.

yes that kit will be fine but you do need two kits (unless you can find another pulley cheap but not usually) the power pulley is fixed on a 2.6 but an adjustable one can be used no problem. £40 for the lot is good even if you do end up with parts left over !

That kit will have one pulley missing

It DOES come with bolts needed

Order 2of the kits, and use the pulley from the second one , you then have a complete cambelt kit.

Engine number is irrelevant you can fit any v6  cambelt kit to any v6 by keeping your original backplate and lower pulley washer

If you like I’m happy to do the job for you At no cost

Thanks for your reply and for your very kind offer.  I would certainly take you up on it but you are a good way from me.  I've ordered one of the second kit I posted a link to so I should now have a complete set to work with.  :y
