Why I don't use REMOLDS
« on: 03 July 2009, 23:48:24 »

I was doing 70 (ish) mph in the outside lane of the M6 a couple of weeks ag.

There was a bit of vibration!

Then BOOOM!

There was a bit more vibration   :D

Never liked remolds, you see them all over the motorway

those aint technic tyres are they by any chance

i worked for a garage that was a main fitter of these technic tyres
there was speed rated as normal but i would never trust them

the amount that came back with faults with tread seperation and great big bulges where the inner side wall had broke apart

very dodgy tyres
don't trust them

Offside rear, held quite straight, slowed down reasonably quickly and headed for the hard shoulder.

No great drama  8-) 8-)

H rating is 130 MPH  :y

on a remould they would never reach that speed
ive seen h rated remoulds go at 80mph

those tyres are really only any good if you just doing short jornerys at 20mph in a little car like an old mini or a metro

If you truly knew just how small the contact (tyre/tarmac) area is, you'd want the best you can afford.

H rating is 130 MPH  :y

But it's not just the speed that counts --- most of these tend to go on acceleration

thought all remoulds were 70mph?

either way, I'd never entertain the idea, they should be illegal on cars

kingpin was 1 of the first makes of remoulds and there first lot of tyres was always a p speed rating

although they have managed to increase there speed rating on the tyre to a h speed rating they still aint any good for big car over 70mph

i have fitted loads of these remoulds tyres but hated every second

i used to sell either a branded part worn or even a bugdet tyre to customers

the amount of warnings i had because i didnt sell many remoulds was unbeleavable
