Cost of a garage Corsa clutch change?

can anyone give me a ball park figure for a new clutch on a 2.5 year old Corsa (don't know engine size but 1.1 ish) please?

I am worried that the elderly relative might get rooked as he is thinking it would be £400 or so at an independent not VX dealer.

A 1.2 I guess.....about a 4-5 hour job so 500-600 quid.

What they been doing.....747 launches?

5 or 600 They will be pleased!

Well they both drive vigorously but I suspect that the left pedal also serves as a convenient footrest for one of them!

Could it just need some "adjustment"? No way has it done 100k miles. I would guess 25 to 30 tops

It is slipping on hills, i.e. engine revs increase.

Most elderly people I've seen ride the clutch for miles whilst revving the engine like crazy, even if they're just parking. Sound familiar?

Agreed. It seems certain, often senior, members of society have problems with modern engines that are quiet, light and more happy to rev. Give 'em a Ford pushrod engine with rattly tappets and there'll be less 4K RPM parking manoevres!  ;)

I have to change the Clutch on the wifes car also a corsa 1.0 12v 3cyl jobie ( Elephants roller scate )
got a complete clutch kit for £52.75.
Now have the engion out as I must also replace the timing chain and a couple of bits so its a lot easyer to take the thing out.
( dont know how I'm going to get the bugger back in though Lol.

Does that include the release bearing?

Seems a bit to cheap.

yep everything is there
release bearing, pressure plate and clutch plate,
the make is national, at least thats whats on the box,
and I've never had any probs with the parts that I get from my local parts dealer.

Well he took it to his trusted garage and the quote is £460 for a new clutch next Monday.

4 and a half years old and 31,000 miles so no warranty or footrest.

Just out of interest do Corsa 1.2's have a cam belt interval?!!

Some 1.2 corsas have a chain and others a cam belt, so with the belt its also 40k or 4 years.
have just changed the chain on the wifes 1.0 as it was streched, common fault, not to shure if theres an interval with the chains though.

The clutch unit was £91, the Slave cylinder £111, and labour £265. It took them more than 5 hours.

£467 back on the road. And it has a chain not a cambelt!

Yep, all the 16V units are chain based.

Chains are fine as long as you change the oil regularly
