Finally got around to changing the rear brake pads. Nice easy little job that should take only a few minutes but I had to keep dodging the rain.  >:(
I'm sure they are the originals so with 4mm left at 93K it just goes to show what a careful steady driver I am.   :)

Just normal driving  :y

When I picked up the VW I noticed it had brand new front discs and pads, I'm not expecting to do anything on these for at least 50k, more like 80k  :)

Done 10k already and they look no different in depth on the pad.  :D

Correct, v8 is the last for GS8211 ECU :(.  It never got the extra refinements that the GS820 got for smoother changes and better change points.

At least you know you are on the best available for the 3.2 auto

Which Omegas has the GS820?
MFL and non DBW FL.

They are no interchangeable with different models.

Tried to book it into BMW to reprogram the Abs ecu.

And subsequently failed...

Apparently £140 worth of computer time equates to needing the car all day >:( which means waiting four weeks until they have a courtesy car available. Wtf ???

Well another mot passed with no issues, now to get the oil cooler and cambelt kit changed, passenger side cam cover leaking at rear so need to get that done at the same time. ::)

Why didn't you send yours off to BBA Reman or similar for testing/repair?  :-\

If you factor in the cost of your replacement ecu + reprogramming, I wouldn't have thought the cost would have been much different.  :-\

Nearly got stuck in a car park in Cardiff this afternoon when suddenly I couldn't engage reverse gear in the Mundano!  :(

I managed to squeeze out and back onto the road and found a roadside parking space that I could drive into.  ::)  A bit of investigation showed that the plastic collar on the gear stick that prevents reverse gear being engaged without lifting the ring under the gearknob had become disengaged.  :-\

I managed to reattach it (sort of), but I'll need to do a permanent repair with a bit of wire or ducktape!  ::)
