(not such a) newbie from Hungary
« on: 04 September 2011, 00:00:34 »

Dear Fellow Omega Owners,

Let me say hi and introduce myself briefly. My name is Bertalan Molnar and I am from Hungary. I may be new to this forum (it's pretty shameful that I have just learnt that such a thing exists, at all) but I wouldn't consider myself new to (Opel) Omegas. Let me tell you guys why:

1) I have had 9 Opel Omegas so far. I still have one. (Or, in a broader sense, three, but I only consider one as virtually mine by now.) This last one is the one I have had as my primary car for the longest period ever: over 4 years now. ;)

2) My first car was an Omega back in 1998. It was an Omega A (Carlton in the UK). So I've been driving Omegas for 13 years. :y

3) I published the first ever Opel Omega homepage in Hungary. And the second as well. And some others as well on the same topic. ::) Moreover, I founded two Opel Omega fan clubs. Unfortunately, due to personal problems with some members, I had no other choice but quit the first club and soon after that establish a new one, but the latter one dissappeared in a few years. :-/ Anyway, I had the privilege to organise at least half a dozen Opel Omega meetings in Hungary. (Also, around that time, I was a board member of the official Hungarian Opel Club, and I tried my best to help the Omega "mission" -- unfortunately, only with minor success. :-/)

What else is worth knowing about me? [smiley=rolleyes.gif] I'm married, got 3 young kids, and I work as an English teacher. Oh, and, of course, my kids love our Omega, which is called "Kate". :)

So, as the final word, I hope you guys are willing to receive a Central European Omega enthusiast like me. ;)

P.S. Here's the list of the Omegas I've owned so far:

1st 1988 Opel Omega (A) 2.0i LS
2nd 1990 Opel Omega (A) Caravan 2.3TD intercooler CD
3rd 1987 Opel Omega (A) 1.8 LS
4th 1993 Opel Omega (A) Caravan 2.0i CD Diamant
5th 1994 Opel Omega (B) 2.5 V6 CD
6th 1991 Opel Omega (A) Caravan 2.0i GL
7th 1992 Opel Omega (A) 2.6i GLS automatic (project car)
8th 1995 Opel Omega (B) 2.0i automatic GL (w/ B FL look)
9th 2002 Opel Omega (B FL) Caravan 2.2 DTI
