Mark and Dave.  Fantastic.  well done.

Not only did you make it, but, as always, were there for others, giving your expertise and experience freely.

Our newly appointed Omega God will bless you and reward you both in his own magnanimous way.

I will add to this and post more pics in due course (ie. when I am less tired!)

In the meantime....

This is what happens when you rally a Senator up a mountain!!

We pulled up at the top and noticed something was amiss...  ::)

Then the bonnet was opened...  ;D

The aircon was well goosed....no gas at all in it.

It was the viscous fan coupling that had failed and hence the rad had no fan cooling....until the aircon fan was wired up.....I hate bloody viscous couplings!

I suspect it would have boiled up anyway.....

Welcome back you pair & well done!!

I must admit, my heart was warmed by hearing of your benevolence on the trip!!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the pic's!!

So where did you get the Omegaowners window sticker then? And more to the point, could I have one?  8-)

Did you manage to remove the vignette from your windscreen or should I start looking on eBay? I see there's quite a few for sale!!

Cheers,

Rod.

The swiss Vignette is available and off the screen with no problems.

So, day 4....the drive to Prague. Now this is a fair treck and given the further required battery swaps etc we decide to head up to Munich and take the Autobahns over to the Chezk border. This gave us a chance to wind the Senator up but, at 145mph a dam Golf driver pulled out so we had to brake.....

As we approached the border and hearing rumours of some cars being refused entry we decided to take a 15 minute break and check the cars over.....plus change the battery again.

Whilst doing this, 3 of the scruffiest Germans came over and showed us customs ID and asked for all the documentation etc. The problem was the guy with the Volvo had not registered the car in his name as he had only bought it a few days before the trip!. This he managed to explain to them whilst adjusting speking in what can only be descirbed as a Rennay from Allo Allo type accent.

No problems at the border and onto Prague....witha  few more battery changes.

Now Prague has got the worst one way system ever and we did get pretty lost......just as we passed the restaurant where we were meeting later, the Mondeo died again and we had not got enough charge to even think of doing another swap so there is sat.

Met up later on and watched with delight as the Mondeo got taken to the crusher althought the pickup driver did manage to bang it into a Volve estate whilst he was loading it!

Up next morning for the 700 mile drive back to Calais.....

I have to say that having driven the Omega this morining that it is an order of magnitude better as a car than the Senator......quieter, better power delivery, smoother, nicer ride.......no bloody viscous fan....

See! That's what I keep telling everyone on the ABS forum, but they've either had bad experience with an Omega and didn't believe me or just plain didn't believe me!!!  ::)

They cant have done a very good comparison then.......200+ miles in a Senator and then back to an Omega and you soon realise!

And reliability.....viscous fans not working, cruise not working (although ours did), blower speed control not working, knocking drop links, worn wishbone bushes, iffy brakes, non-working suspension etc etc etc.....how can the Omega be worse....it just sounds the same to me!
