Thanks for the kind offer MrMcB but I am now getting a lift of Matchless.

Head gasket and bolt set has just arrived, very good delivery service and looks to be a good set.

Will post some pics of the assembled head tonight.

One head almost finished (bit of final checking and ancillaries to attach). Shown here following re-fit of the valves, springs, new stem seals and Colet's and under going the good old paraffin leak test.

Right....two heads stripped, cleaned, new stem seals, valves cleaned and lapped in, faces checked for flatness, exhaust manifolds checked and flattened (one was warped) then fully re-assembled ready to fit.....

So tomorrow is assembly morning.......then 15 minutes of followers tapping like buggery!

Cheers!!!  :) :) :) :)  I can't wait to get back to driving a real car.

Have to start sorting out the logistics i.e: bacon butties, tea or coffee and what beers to ply you all with ;)

All fitted.....6 hours work (had a few additinal bits to sort as I went).

One major hitch.....one of the heads bolts didn't have a washer....so Laidback kindly went to Vardys .....but they had none in stock (which I cant beleave!) so it was a trip to Derby.

Staretd first time and was a bit ticky to start (lifters fillign with oil)......quitened down after about 5 mins and its runs VERY well.......it realy is super smooth.

Last remaining job is to sort one of the manifold studs out (will do it during the week)

That's good news,
it should give you trouble freemiles for the rest of its life now. Did you do anything special to the lifters by the way?
