Yes...I inserted them into a vice (with the jaws protected) and very gently pushed the plunger in to expel the old oil (with the fill hole facing down). Repeated this several times to remove all of the old black oil.

Then did the Matchless trick of putting them into a pot of oil and pumping them until the air stops coming out of the hole.

You could then repeat this a few times but, I didn't need to.

They quitenened down pretty quickly and are now mega quiet.

Got to fix an exhaust manifold to front pipe stud though......will perhaps do it tomorrow evening.
