Posting this on behalf of one of our members Ray who hasn't got internet currently so I will relay any answers back
2002 2.2 dti CDX, power steering is getting heavy at low speed but works as normal at motorway speeds, Power steering fuse is fine apparently as is fluid level
Would this have servotronic ?
-
99% certain only the v6 had servotronic.

Before I fixed the PAS pipes on my Omega, the oil was becoming aerated due to the perforated pipe. This was giving a false high reading in the reservoir and the steering was really heavy at low speed. It is possible the steering feels fine at higher speeds simply because the car is moving.
I still have the PAS pipes I got from you if it turns out you need them.

If it has a fuse, then it's servotronic. Can't check my brochure as it is currently in a pile of stuff.
-
Only DTI with Servotronic is the Elite.

Is the climate control panel illuminated as normal and the heater blower fan working?
If not, the same fuse controls the servo tronic on the PAS, and if the fuse has blown, the steering will feel heavy especially at slower speeds as it will have no 'assistance'.
Can't remember the fuse number - 14 or 17 rings a bell, but it's a big one and should be easy to check by pulling them in turn. They are under the steering column.
