Well done on the pass  :)

PITA to get a plate made now , you have to take the v5 as proof you own it  ;)

The V5 is not proof of ownership but is a record of the Registered Keeper.  Only receipts relating to the purchase of the vehicle is recognised as proof of ownership. ;)

Notwithstanding, a result. Good maintenance pays dividends.

If you think it is hard to get number plates in the UK you should try it in Spain. ;D

Is it just me or does anyone else find waiting for M.o.T. result a nerve wracking experience?

Yeah, yeah....but you can get a number plate made up with a V5, or trade/sell your car with it....so it will do.

I was just making the point as it is a common misconception amoungst many motorists that the V5 is proof of purchase. There are bound to be even OOF members who may think this, so it is a valid "for information" point on here as other members are making all the time without dismissive comment ;)

Don't think they'd accept a scrappy bit of note paper saying "sold as seen for parts or repair 24/4/18 " ;D

The registered keeper is ultimately responsible for the road worthiness of the vehicle in their name ::)

Or take the car, or ask ya mate to make them up, or get them done from eBay.

Indeed, I never have had any issues with getting plates made up.

Admittedly some of the internet ones had lacked the proper markings like plate supplier, but who cares.  In fact, I think it was the Silver Bullet's front that had OOF on it ;D

Which just goes to show how much those in power are out of touch with reality.

All that time pushing thru legislation which is supposed to curb crime but in reality just makes life more of a pain for the everyone else.

I heard somewhere 25% of cars in the uk have expired mot
I wonder how many don't bother with tax and insurance either
now you don't have a tax disc to display on the car  ::)

The ANPR cameras will increasingly deal with these issues, but there will always be many who will get away with it for so long, but not forever.  It is the inadequacies of the sentences issued when people are caught that gets me >:(

well ANPR will just increase the number of cars with cloned plates (about 1 in 10 currently)

we need a better system
and ban repeat offenders
