1 of the many problems my poor omega is suffering with, if im driving and i put my clutch in, the rpm increases by a 1000rpm, and wont drop down for ages making gear changes lurchy and embbarasing, anyone else suffer with this? I've read up its a (feature of vauxhall) but that wouldn't make any sense! :(

Did you change the air filter when you serviced it?

Yeah everything was changed as it had been sitting a long time :-\

Yeah i can lift off the accelerator, leave it for a about 5 seconds then go into the clutch, and it still shoots up a 1000rpm :o nothing fouling the pedal and throttle bodes were cleaned after thinking that might be the problem, but still occurring nice and strong :-\

probably a vacuum leak. check the vacuum lines. or the maf sensor needs cleaning. if it was dirty though the filter (on the top). Maf cleaning can get at any car parts shop.

Is it only when the engine is cold?

probably a vacuum leak. check the vacuum lines. or the maf sensor needs cleaning. if it was dirty though the filter (on the top). Maf cleaning can get at any car parts shop.
Checked all the vacuum lines but will have to give the maf a clean and see if it that helps :y

Strange. I got the same problem when the rpm hangs around 2000 for the first 1/2 mile of driving and then it drops to around 1000rpm this is normal when engine is cold before warming up. I've had this for well over a year I think it is without getting to the bottom of it. I also drive a manual and its a right pain. Never used to do it.
Hope you sort it out.

Normal for the four pots :y It's an emissions thing to warm the cat... Kinda like an auto choke. Blipping the throttle gently usually knocks it down to normal, even when stone cold :y

In have seenthis sort of behaviour before on a 2.6. It turns out that the MAF sensor was the problem in that instance, but that doesn't mean it will be this time. It would be good to get some live data if you have a suitable code reader. In particular, the MAF and fuel trim values when it's fully warmed up and idling normally, if possible.
Cleaning MAF sensors doesn't generally help, and often knackers them completely.

It maybe because the old air filter was clogged up :-\
I changed the air filter on mine....as it hadn't been changed for about 60k miles....the engines revs went up, presumably as it wasn't used to getting more air into the intake....it took it about a week for the revs to settle back down to normal...…...

It has had a live data read while driving, but intake was reading perfect, the guy couldn't fault it, but we was looking for something else and not the rpm fault, may have to go back for a live feed and see if we can dictate why its behaving like that, its been 2 months the car has been driven but still doing it, anything to do with the clutch atall do you reakon?

No. the clutch is not the fault. It wouldn't raise the rpm. Not as far as I know.

Cruise control is a function of the engine ECU and the electronic throttle (drive by wire) on the 2.6 :y (hence cruise is just a software setting in the ECU and does not need an actuator)

On the original fault, check the throttle body carefully.
I have seen it where the throttle body stop has been adjusted to mask a stalling issue (usually down to an air leak or cruded up throttles), consequently the DBW control cant close them enough when idling.
Easy to check, adjust the setting until the throttle butterflies can be felt to stick and then wind the screw in slightly so they don't, lock off with the locking nut.

Only if you are pissed ::)
It's all down to the ecu... Swapping the ecu temp sensor for a new one might help.
