Title: satellite finder kit

Anyone use the cheap (about £12) devices to help you adjust your satellite dish. Which one do you recommend ?

Ours has gone slightly out of alignment yet again and the only guy I know of that is prepared to travel to our remote area is booked up for weeks.

I use a cheapo slx jobbie and a similar slx for ariels
they use a 9volt battery IIRC when ordering ,which may not be included  :y

I've also adjusted the dishes before using the built in lnb signal strength bars in the service menu (sky+hd boxes)

Any of them. They are pretty dumb devices that don't need anything clever.

I changed the LNB as that was on the way out and got a picture using " How is that looking on strength?" to my assistant via a walkie talkie. The Sunbird GI mini boxes I use display the signal briefly when you change channel.

Wanted something a bit more scientific. I think the key thing will be to get something that includes the connecting lead. That would be a beggar to source here where the locals use tradespeople for everything still (except building where they all are experts - they think).  This CSL product looks to fit that bill.

Tape all connections with self amalgamating tape and any spare terminals on the lnb if quad or octo  :y

heres a Zirk tip that I use, once you got the LNB and Dish where it needs to be and a good Signal, tape a 2p piece over the center of the LNB then re adjust for best Signal or Picture, Lock up the Bolts, re confirm alignment and then remove the 2p, that way youve got the best possible signal and alignment ready for bad Weather etc.

And dont forget the Skew adjustment on the LNB
