General Car Chat / Re: Auto Insignia - any good?
« on: 22 August 2017, 10:16:32 »
I changed my Omega for 2015 Insignia hatch 2.0CDTI SRi 163 (Euro 5) Nav Auto, I like it, I purchased it cash sale main dealer when it was 10 months old 5k miles and an ex Vauxhall management car so it had a few options on it and 11k off of list. Traditional auto box is really smooth 6 speed, engine pulls well and seems screwed together ok, now got 20k on it as purchased to visit an elderly relative so does 200 miles every couple of weeks, mainly stop start motorway and A roads with no problems.

Good points Asteroid Grey looks really nice when cleaned, air con very effective, rear camera (option) nice in conjunction with parking sensors (option) seats supportive but a bit hard, very easy to drive and cabin noise low, avg 45 MPG. positive steering, large boot (good for house clearing), space saver spare (option) has a proper spare wheel well, nice clear dashboard with no reflection at night in the facelift, DAB, USB and Bluetooth nice touches, 18in blade alloys (option) look good and tyre protects them from curbs, electric parking brake great feature (controversial I know on this forum), oil life indicator useful as I change oil every 6 months.

Bad points, alloys are pitting a bit and subject to a warranty claim, engine noisy when first started (newer 170 quieter) but fine once on the move, passenger seat does not adjust for height, boot has a low sharp edge on each side, don't access boot from the side! door trim hard plastic, odd trim creak when hot weather, suspension a bit hard for some roads, Conti 3 tyres wear quickly at the front, had to replace at 12k miles, will need new pads and disks next service in June 2018 if I keep it, rear space a bit tight but only two of us mainly so not an issue.

To sum up, does what it says on the tin, excellent value nearly new, happy with it.

General Car Chat / Re: Non starting corsa
« on: 02 March 2017, 09:33:33 »
Had this on a Corsa 1.2 Twinport it was the crank sensor and it does not throw up a fault code a lot of the time, I changed both the crank and the cam sensors as they were cheap anyway and were 10 years old, ours was a 2005 Corsa with about 70k on the clock at the time. Easy fix.

Omega General Help / Re: Water Temp Gauge sender
« on: 04 March 2016, 16:58:51 »
I have the 2.6 V6 same problem, mine packed up after a thermostat change, worked for a while then stopped. It does occasionally come off the bump stop but only when accelerating hard. I live with it as the cooling fans all work fine and the car runs great. I thought it may have been an airlock but then that would effect the ECU sensor beside it as well I would guess.

Garage did as you did, changed the brass sensor but no different, think they earthed it out and it was ok.

Omega General Help / Re: Temp sensor really confused

Good to report I got result thanks to the pictures on this site, took my laptop spoke to the service manager who was taken aback by my visit. Offered to do the job for just the sensor price and offered to service my other car for free when the MOT comes due next month.

Omega General Help / Temp sensor really confused
« on: 10 July 2015, 15:01:30 »
Hi I am a bit confused I had the car serviced by a Vauxhall specialist and asked them to look a cold start issue and non functioning gauge. They reported a failed sensor which talks to the ecu, they replaced this and had no problems with cold starts since and the gauge worked as well. About a month later the gauge stopped working again so sent it back to them to fix as I had already paid for it, They have just called me to say the sender sensor has failed in the V and not covered by the first repair and want more money to fix it. How many sensors are there? I feel I being played here, its the not the money its the principle, I have read the site and thought both sensors were in the V. Any advise appreciated as the sensors appear side by side.

General Car Chat / Re: Air con Specialist Surrey?

I used Gary Soames at AutoAir a few years back on a 4x4, great guy and fixed the system which included replacing some pipe work, ac was ice cold there after.

General Car Chat / Re: Corsa stereo question
« on: 10 March 2015, 09:37:10 »
Pretty sure the CD30 like I have in the Corsa will not work in an Omega due to the CAN bus. Also not all CD30 play MP3 they will be marked MP3 by the CD30 model code on the front of the unit if they do, our Corsa is a 2005 and that wont play MP3 disks. Hope that helps.

My temp gauge only works when it feels like it, also Aircon leaves quite a puddle under the car.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Poor Reception.
« on: 04 February 2015, 10:12:55 »
I have DAB and the reception is fine but with an external antenna, I replaced the external aerial stub on the roof with a DAB one, reception is very good and very rarely breaks up.

If they are compatible Keihin, they are the ones that Prins uses on their systems so quality not an issue. They are expensive but sometimes pop up second hand on the bay.

Is the Twinport the 1229 cc version?

Our car only has 1199cc. :-\

Yep and an extra 5 bhp, think that is only difference.

Owned that very model back in 2000-2002 a wretched thing, my wife would not drive it in the end, it had no acceleration whatsoever, positively dangerous at junctions. Corsa C with the 1.2 or 1.4 is the only way to go, the 1.0 is rare for a very good reason. As for the mileage can't comment as we ditched ours with 25k on the clock our currect 1.2 twinport has 65k and its fine.

I am a tad lost on why Vauxhall want to sell it all, does not the Corsa fit this market space?
