General Discussion Area / Mini meet-Johnnydog
« on: 12 June 2018, 23:11:29 »
Had a mini meet with Johnnydog to collect a bumper and bonnet to resolve my embarrassing front end damage  :-[

I would like to publicly thank him for a warm friendly reception, interesting conversation, good service and a future source for spares from the many mig’s he has

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WTD Facelift front bumper
« on: 28 May 2018, 21:24:59 »
Hi folks

My 03 estate has had an embarrassing argument with a small tree and I need to replace the bumper. Burgundy red if possible and within pickup distance would be nice but not necessary.

Does not need to have the spots or washers attached as I can swop these over, but would make it easier.

Please reply if you have one available

Omega General Help / Broken spring
« on: 16 April 2017, 23:25:09 »
Inevitably my rear NS spring has broken  ::) so going to replace both and considering upgrading to a stronger spring as she is often loaded up especially when going on holiday (no not with a tin tent).

Question is do I have to put in upgraded springs or is there a alternative solution ? like using standard vectra or astra estate springs which are just that little bit better (and possibly cheaper).

Thanks Phil

General Discussion Area / Electric back on
« on: 28 December 2015, 00:20:54 »
Our electric went off Boxing day at about 9.00 because of the flooding in Rochdale. About 18-20,000 homes left without power. Even the mobile phone service went off for a few hours.

Came back on about 22.30 tonight 37hrs later, big generator now parked next to our substation.

There are about a dozen or so emergency ones running around the area as the main substation was overrun with water, even though in 2010 it has had £468k spent protecting it from that 1 in 200 year flooding event  ::). Only took 5  :-X

Luckily daughter the other side of town still had power so all freezer stuff transported there but lost a fridge full of food stuff

Earlier on today there was a burger van touring the area giving free burgers, etc for those without power, nice touch I thought

General Car Chat / Just seen this in the weekly scrote list
« on: 25 September 2015, 20:26:08 »
Local online Police news, saw these two entries

A van driver hogging the middle lane of the M62, J18-J21, forcing traffic into lane three to pass him, was issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR).

An Audi TT was also spotted hogging the middle lane of the M62 J19-21 in the roadworks, causing mayhem for HGVs

I am very glad to see this. it is the main thing that annoys me on the motorway

This years tour of Europe in the MIG took in Gassin (near St Tropez), La Rochelle, Caen, Bayeux, the Normandy beaches, museums, monuments and cemeteries, over 27 days

From the computer
2555 miles
26 Mpg average
Just over 65 hours of driving
47 MPH average

And the only problem was the throttle position error which I set off with

Not bad for a 12 yr old car

Omega General Help / Had enough of this P1555ing error now
« on: 15 June 2015, 21:52:58 »
Following on from this thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=130904.0

Joff has supplied me with a replacement throttle position sensor (accelerator) and after fitting it and carrying out the throttle adaptation as kindly advised by RobG, the problem still exists  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Soo the next thing is to get some live data and the question is, what should I look at/record so as to get you experts to point me at the one thing I have not yet done  ::)

TIA
Phil

.... for my 2.2 estate, if there are any differences

Omega General Help / P1555 error - Tried everything
« on: 07 June 2015, 22:01:23 »
Apologies for this being a bit long but looking for suggestions that I have not already done

As above - have been getting this error when spanner light comes on, although light not on permanently, it resets with ignition off/restart.

P1555   Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load

Happens when cold and hot, town and motorway, petrol and LPG.
The only occasion I can make it happen consistently is when parked up and holding the revs between 1500 - 2500, occurs almost instantly.

The car drives normally, at all times.
Revs do not fluctuate when idling.
Fuel consumption seems usual
When started cold the revs are 1100ish and come down to 800ish after a couple of minutes

Have researched on here and t'internet and consensus is clean throttle body & unblock hole and breather pipes - did this, no fix
Other suggestions include,
replace throttle body & gasket - done that
replace cam sensor - done that
replace lamba's - done that
have also,
replaced MAF and air filter.
EGR blanked and un-blanked
I am getting desperate and trying anything

Some history, in done order, to fix numerous other problems
New Silencer - padding blown out
New CAT flexi - blowing
New CAT back boxes - rusted
New EGR gasket - leaking
New exhaust manifold - cracked

Cannot recall when code first appeared but was definitely there when I was investigating the EGR gasket problem

Did suspect throttle, but discounted it when discovered the error occurred when using cruise control
Also have considered ECU, but assumed I would be getting other problems as well

Completely stuck now can anyone suggest where to look now ???????

TIA
Phil
