It seems nobody likes the BRINO deal put forward by the PM.

Equally, It seems nobody really likes the good old fashioned 'f*uck you Europe' hard brexit put forward by the minister for Victorian England JRM.

We may as well put STMO's whippet in charge of negotiations. :)

General Car Chat / Oil consumption of old cars.
« on: 19 November 2018, 14:37:47 »
I've just finished reading a road test of a 1963 Mini Cooper S with a 1071cc engine.

Oil consumption was 135 miles per pint. :o :o :o :o

Why did old cars use so much oil?

"best to keep a couple of pint bottles of oil in the door pockets" they said.

Nothing new under the sun.

The car is a Packard. :y

........Omega for sale on Autotrader.

It seems only yesterday the number was 100 or more. :)

General Discussion Area / The new Doctor Who.

Perhaps I'm a dinosaur but I can't help but feel that having a woman as 'The Doctor' is fundamentally wrong.

I mean, how can a girlie be a Time Lord?......The clue is in the word 'Lord'

I suppose the Tardis will need to be painted pink in a future episode. ::)

It's fine for The Doctor to have a pretty female assistant. A girl to help out with any chores and to scream when a bug-eyed alien gets hold of her, but it is political correctness gone mad to have a woman playing the lead role.

Whatever next?......a female James Bond followed by a black female James Bond so as not to upset anyone.

General Car Chat / Decided to cancel Jag insurance with Admiral
« on: 15 October 2018, 16:52:17 »
........which is due by 6th November.

In isolation I was pleased with a figure of 278.

However, an email this morning from my old chums at Saga came up with a like for like figure of 20 petrol from any Texaco garage.

Took about 20 minutes sort. :)

Now who will be the first to call me a tight bastard? ::)

General Car Chat / Insurance for the Indian.
« on: 12 October 2018, 12:21:28 »
Last year  306.53. This year a rise to 353.92...... :-\

Ten minutes on the phone with Admiral resulted in a further discount of 75.23.

Seems reasonable enough. :)

General Car Chat / Octane booster.
« on: 10 October 2018, 17:38:05 »
It isn't always easy to find super unleaded 99 octane fuel around here.

Will octane booster work when added to supermarket petrol, or is it snake oil?

General Car Chat / Jaguar Solihull to close for two weeks.

Could be some exceptionally good deals on new derv cars. They need to shift them one way or another. :)

General Discussion Area / As of yesterday.......

.......I'm mortgage free. :y

The best the bastards would offer me was 4.74%. I wanted 2.5% or less.

It's a fair old chunk of change I had to come up with as the mortgage had 8 years to run (2026) but I console myself with the fact I'll save thousands in interest and have an additional 850 each month to squander. :D

Nice feeling though.

Now what can I waste 850 on each month....... ::)

General Discussion Area / Nine eleven........the 1945 version.

Initially they thought it was the nips. :)

General Car Chat / Has car tax gone up?
« on: 01 October 2018, 19:58:04 »
Direct debit payments are now showing as 48.56 each month for both Signum and Tata.

48.56 x 12 = 582.72 (twice) :'(

General Discussion Area / Trip to the dentist.
« on: 27 September 2018, 16:10:04 »
Three teeth are basically past saving and because of this eating is becoming a problem. They need to come out.

I don't want a denture, they are for old people. Another option is a dental bridge but these tend to damage the good teeth either side of the one that is to be pulled, and can cause more problems than it can solve

Anyway, I've decided on three dental implants which should last me until I'm placed six feet under.

Today I've had a CT scan to check bone density ( 240)........I will then need to have  the teeth extracted before the butchery can commence. :)

Should take about five of six months in total.

General Discussion Area / Superbikes of the seventies.

The presenter couldn't be more 'wooden' but for those of a certain age (old bastards) a trip down memory lane. :y
