Doesn't the Parrot kit intercept the front speakers and therefore have a sub loom that plugs in the ISO? What I'm getting at is that you do not use the telephone prewiring.

This issue is a relay on the rear board that has failed IIRC. It's just easier to swap the whole board. If

The thing is, for the sake of another 70ish for the passenger bank Dispack when you have just paid out for camcover gaskets etc plus the time to dismantle all the cable tray again to fit it is a no brainer to me. While the Dispack may be fine at the moment, it's life will have been decreased significantly. I only say the above having been through it multiple times.

Obviously the drivers side is a 2 min job with nothing else to dismantle so not a big issue to sort.

To be honest, if the boots are split due to oil immersion then you usually find the Dispacks aren't much longer for this World. You can get genuine Bosch Dispacks at reasonable prices now - ie. Cheaper than VX trade / trade club discount.

The cable tray over the passenger spark plug bank seemed in the way far more than normal.  In the past I have managed to pull it up and tie it so I can work underneath on the plugs and cam covers, but this model gives me a distinct lack of options. I may want to work on the cam covers, but with this cable tray it is near on impossible without removing it, and dealing with the spark plug right at the rear on the passenger side has caused me very real difficulties. :o

Is there a way you can disconnect the ruddy cable tray and move it away from the area?

Do you know, in all honesty, I wish I had'nt started this today. I'm tired, have a half dismantled top half of the engine - at least I have re-installed the fuel intake assembly -  on a car siting useless in the garage!!! >:( >:(

Oh yes, with everything else, almost forgot.  The plug wells were full of oil!!! >:(

Hence my question about getting to the cam covers.

Lord Opti are you interested in a defunct car? ???

I've always fully removed the cable tray when doing anything on that bank, not doing so risks damaging the loom or plugged connections by putting undue strain on them to my mind.

Absolutely ridiculous spending that money on GM bones (made by Lemforder), far better with a new pair of Lemforders or refurbished original GM's and a pair of powerflex front bushes. The rest of the money is a good way on the journey to Shocks, springs, droplinks, top mounts, bearings.... Which will all need doing on any Omega that hasn't had a front end rebuild now.

No surprise about parts being in Germany as all parts stock for cars over eight years from production that aren't used in anything newer are stored in Opel's German storage centre as no VX storage facility in Blighty...

You need to replace the complete tank. cost is about 36 I believe.

Removed the radiator drain plug on the daily as it weeps when the car is cooling down, unfortunately only halve the plug came out. Tried to seal the remaining bit and screw it back in but pissing out as it cools down again.

Sure I have a spare used radiator in the shed at my dad's so you can guess next weekends job.  :D

And the spare used radiator.... Weeps..... There's a few hours of my life I won't get back. I do have a brand new pattern radiator as well but it's not got the mounts for the external oil cooler do I fit / bodge it or do I spend yet more money on this car and buy another one?


I have a 3.0L auto rad on my3.2, junked the ext-cooler and used the internal cooler on the rad, but I did have all the 3.0L pipes too.


Aye that's the missing bit stopping me using the other spare Rad  ;D
